When did someone last properly test the electrics in your building?

If you can't answer that question, it might be time for an EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report).

An EICR is a full inspection and test of your electrical installation. It checks whether your wiring, circuits and protective devices are safe and up to standard, and gives you a formal report at the end of it.

Here's when you legally need one:
🏠 Rental properties: every 5 years or on change of tenancy. It's a legal requirement for landlords in England, and the report must go to your tenants.

🏢 Commercial properties: every 5 years as a minimum.

🏡 Domestic properties: every 10 years, or when buying or selling.

The inspection is straightforward. What it uncovers can range from nothing to something that needs attention urgently. Either way, you're better off knowing.

Every job TDE completes is tested, inspected and certified to BS 7671. As a NAPIT registered contractor our work is independently assessed, and every certificate we issue is a proper documented record of the installation.

Selling? Letting? Insuring? Refurbishing? That paperwork matters more than most people realise until they need it.

Always ask what certification you’ll receive before work starts. You should always get something in writing. ✔️

Out of hours. Full site shutdown. Zero margin for error. ⚡

This communications room fit-out involved three-phase power to server infrastructure and the installation of a UPS (Uninterruptable Power Supply). The whole site had to come down to do it safely, so we worked through the night to make sure everything was live again before the working day started.

Planned properly. Executed cleanly. Back on by morning.

Most commercial buildings are still being specified to meet today's demands. But the pace of change in how buildings consume and manage power is faster than most people realise.

EV charging is no longer a nice-to-have — occupiers are starting to expect it as standard. Smart systems, automated controls and energy monitoring are increasingly part of the brief. And with sustainability targets tightening, the pressure to reduce consumption and report on it accurately is only going one way.

The electrical infrastructure you design in now either enables all of that — or limits it.

We're having more conversations with developers and architects about getting this right at design stage rather than retrofitting later. It's always the better call.
