There’s been a recall on a popular manufacturers parts.

Any fellow sparks we have on here take note just incase it impacts you or your clients.

⚠ Product Recall for Wago Limited TOP JOB S Terminal Block.

The products present a serious risk of fire and explosion as they have an incorrectly stamped spring, which could heat at the contact point and lead to thermal damage. This could lead to the terminal blocks catching fire, and present a risk of explosion if used in hazardous areas. ⚠

The red marker in the image displays the position of the batch number (last 7 digits) affected.

The product has been recalled from customers by WAGO Limited.

Really proud to see Gerrard’s Electrical Solutions mentioned in the Chester Standard after sponsoring a local young rugby fan who has created a booklet to help inspire more young girls into rugby.

It’s exactly the kind of positive local story we’re happy to support — young people getting involved, building confidence, and encouraging others to give something a go.

Well done to everyone involved 👏

Last night’s thunder and lightning storm appears to have caused a number of power issues locally, with quite a few reports of tripped electrics, damaged equipment and loss of supply.

A nearby lightning strike can create a massive voltage surge through the electrical network, which is why sensitive electronics such as TVs, routers, appliances and even boiler controls can sometimes fail afterwards.

This is one of the reasons Surge Protection Devices (SPDs) are now recommended — and in many cases required — on modern consumer units. They help divert dangerous transient overvoltages away from your installation and reduce the risk of damage to electrical equipment.

If your electrics are still tripping or something doesn’t seem right following the storm, it’s worth getting it checked properly rather than repeatedly resetting breakers.

Picture for illustration.

Halil called us out after losing power to the downstairs electric shower.

On inspection it was found that the isolator was severely corroded. This was due to the small bathroom having no extractor fan and the customer not opening the window when using it.

Within 1hour (the call out fee), we located the fault, collected the replacement part and rectified the fault.

We recently decided to support a lovely young girl with a huge passion for getting more females involved in rugby — and what an inspiration she is already. 🏉

At just 14 years old, Samia has independently designed, written, and produced her own leaflet to help promote girls’ rugby and encourage more young females to get involved in the sport.

The response has been incredible. Her efforts have already gained attention from the national women’s rugby team and even local radio stations — a fantastic achievement and thoroughly deserved.

We’re genuinely impressed by Samia, her confidence, determination, and the work she is doing for the future of women’s rugby.

It’s great to see young people showing this level of initiative and passion in the community, and we’re proud to support her journey however we can.

Well done Samia 👏🏉

Day 1 of work experience for Cade… and we’ve already found his limit 😂🕷️

Sent him under the floor to run a cable — came back out 10x faster than he went in after “meeting the homeowner” (8 legs, not paying rent).

To be fair, he still got stuck in and smashed it today 👊

Every electrician remembers their first crawl space… this one just bites back (emotionally) 🕷️😂

Another late night finish due to an emergency call-out ⚡️

Customer had lost power — and after fault finding, it quickly became clear this wasn’t something that could just be “patched up”. The fault was seriously dangerous, so the only safe option was to isolate and leave the circuit disconnected.

Not the outcome anyone wants… but safety always comes first. I’d rather inconvenience someone for a night than leave a live risk that could cause fire or electric shock.

Temporary safety measures put in place, clear advice given, and next steps planned 👍

If you’re experiencing issues like:
• Loss of power
• Tripping circuits
• Burning smells
• Intermittent faults

Don’t ignore it — these are often early warning signs.

An interesting video from another electrician highlighting a major issue in this industry.

We’ve lost a fair share of consumer unit upgrades to £500-£650 quotes.

At almost £400 materials how can you trust an installer to do a proper job for £100
