The clients asked for a reading corner in their snug. A place where they could light the fire and settle down with a favourite book.

We designed and handmade a beautiful handmade oak bookcase built into an alcove. All crafted in European oak, gently aged and coloured with pigments to give depth and shade. We’ve included gentle mouldings to enhance without dominating the room. All finished with our lovely homemade wax.

It won’t be long until the fires are lit and they’ll be reaching for a good novel. ❤️

We were commissioned to make a special box for a wedding album. A very precious item to commemorate a special wedding.

The couple love traditional and modern design. So we designed an African mahogany box that was based on old boxes used to store important scrolls and ch*****ne bottles. We took some 19th C African mahogany and incorporated fine dovetails, hand sculpted carving and purple velvet. We gently aged the timber before giving it a full French polish. Absolutely beautiful and the couple love it!

At Owen Blackwood Craftsmanship, our aim is always to create something beautiful that will last for generations to come. Whether it’s restoring your great grandmother’s stool, or transforming an unused room into a unique place, we want to design and create something beautiful just for you. If you have a space that needs renovating, or require our antique restoration services, then please call us at 07852752794. We would love to create something for you.

We were asked to design and craft a lovely dressing area which combined aged oak with a few modern touches.

We've given the clients two large double wardrobes and lots of deep dovetailed drawers.

All timber is European oak but we've gently hand-planed all surfaces to give a soft undulating feel. The timber has then been gently aged and filled with heavy waxes and resins. It's beautiful to touch and smells wonderful.

It's then finished with architectural antique brass ironmongery and our workshop-made waxes.

Every home needs a library room!😊 a wall of books gives hours of pleasure.

This was a lovely job for a delightful couple. The floors were portly constructed and the clients hated the bounce and squeaking. They asked us to sort out all the floor properly and fit oak flooring. Alongside this we designed and crafted a lovely oak bookcase with delicate mouldings.

The floor and bookcase were gently aged and carefully finished.

The floor now has a solid feel and the bookcase looks and feels gorgeous…our workshop made waxes and pigments bring depth and shading and a glorious smell. Beautiful.

There’s nothing like sitting by the bench with a bit of paper and a sharp pencil to help clients see the care we take to bring their rooms to life…..a good cup of tea and nice music on helps too! 😊

Here we have a full room restoration with a handmade desk and filing cabinet. All made with gentle mouldings and playing with shadows to make it uncluttered and beautiful. We look forward to crafting this for a lovely client.
