People are spending far less time and effort to their front gardens. New builds in particular have rather boring bland small front gardens with really weak turf and very little topsoil underneath it. Time becomes an issue with work, kids and other things so they often get neglected. This one at the Roseberry estate at Newfield had a North facing Garden so the lawn was always going to struggle. The solution was a low maintenance garden with a nice simple feature to break things up and a slow growing tropical palm to set things off. Sometimes not only creating something gives you pleasure but also a sense of purpose when you build something that will have a dramatic positive effect on someone's life. Working for great friends who had have a tough time recently with health issues leaving one of them wheelchair bound for life. Having to move house to accommodate this was one thing but enjoying their new outdoor space meant there was some planning to do.
Due to ongoing medication sitting in the direct sun in such a lovely garden wasn't an option so an outdoor office would enable them work outside but in the shade. To accommodate this we put in a huge base with a wheelchair friendly ramp for easy access. Also for sitting outside with friends and family we installed this fab metal pagola with opening roof for both sun and shade options. Lovely to get a thankyou from this outstanding couple and here's to you enjoying your outdoor space, even the rabbits will be happy when not eating your plants.
