Top three at the Pro Landscaper Awards 🌳

On Tuesday night the team swapped the hi-vis for jackets and headed to Farnborough for the Pro Landscaper Sustainability & Biodiversity Awards 2026, where we were one of three finalists for Arboriculture Company.

We did not take the win (congratulations to G Trott Tree Consultancy), but being named one of the top three arboriculture companies for sustainability and biodiversity is a proud moment for everyone at Silver Tree.

Three jobs worth doing in the garden this autumn, and all three are cheaper and easier now than they will be in spring.

🌱 Turf. September and October are the best months of the year to lay it. The soil is still warm, the autumn rain does the watering for you, and the roots get down before the cold. £6 a square metre.

🍂 Mulch. A 5cm layer on your beds now holds moisture in, keeps the weeds down and feeds the soil all winter. Our own mulching compost, £54 a cubic metre, £6 for a 40 litre bag or £3.60 loose. A cubic metre covers about 20 square metres.

🌳 Bare root hedging. Lifted straight from the ground November to March while the plants are dormant, and by a distance the cheapest way to plant a hedge. Pre-orders open now for hawthorn, blackthorn, hazel, field maple, hornbeam and beech, from £1.62 a plant. A mixed native hedge works out around £11 a metre.

All prices include VAT. Swipe for the details.

We don't send our team away to be trained. We train them.

Most firms send their people away for this. We do it ourselves.

Chainsaw maintenance and chipper safety with James. First aid with Oz. Every member of staff went through it, and everyone passed.

Multiple courses, multiple trainers, none of it bought in. And now it's open to your team too.

A back garden in Stonehouse, before and after.

Grass past the knee, a stack of old slabs against the back wall, and a strip of gravel doing the job of a path. Now it is a level lawn, a raised patio, a relaid side path and a flat corner for the dog kennel.

We met Shaun at a Rugby for Heroes social. He mentioned the garden, we offered to take it on, and the landscaping lads got stuck in over the summer.
