We’ve made quite significant progress since my last post about our own build! …. Things are progressing quickly now and we’re delighted with progress. The main extension is built and you can now start to see the finer details taking shape. We’ve got a great team of contractors on site working tirelessly to ensure the drawings become a reality for us!

We've just completed this design for a replacement Orangery on a project in Cheltenham which was a conservatory style infill. The proposed design meets current thermal properties to incorporate the space into the existing house and create a better flow through. A project doesn't have to be BIG to make a difference ... this project using traditional materials such as timber, lead and greenery to create a natural earthy feel which is more in keeping within the constraints of the Conservation Area.

No narration needed from me for this little sneak peek, I think it speaks for itself. We’ve come so far, and it’s so lovely to see the form of the extension from different viewpoints; we hope the design has achieved the intended; a minimal impact from the road whilst maximising garden views to the rear expansive garden.

June Recent Update on the Build Series 🔩👷🏗️

Getting close to 1st floor wall plate level which means the roof is going on next week. Making real progress and making some important decisions. We can really start to feel the volumes of the spaces now and the see the views out of windows.

Another month of building and we should be in the finishing phase! Watch this space for more!

Episode 1️⃣0️⃣ Build Series. We’re Moving on Up!

In this episode, I talk about how important it is to establish the final design because this influences the work at the beginning of a construction project ie drains! And why changing things during build is costly.

My advice is always to get professional advice and don’t leave your kitchens and bathroom design and layout until the last minute!!

Using a combination of AI render simulations to show a client a visual of their Utility-Boot Room for an extension project to a C17 Listed Farmhouse in South Gloucestershire boasting a beautiful garden and so an island for flower arranging was essential! …. AI is a great tool, if you can’t beat it, join it! …. Thanks to .ai, Nano Banana and our in-house Photoshop skills to produce an accurate representation. ❤️ ⬇️ if you like! 👍🏻

Episode 9️⃣ Build Series - We’re above DPC! Which is a huge relief, and we got here without any major additional costs. This is down to pre-investigations, detail design and thorough pre-planning.

The main services have been reconnected, water, gas, electrics and telephone master socket has been relocated. And the concrete slab poured to create a level surface to work off.

The space is really coming together and progress will be huge over the next couple of weeks with first floor and roofs starting!

I promise to share a more regular update now we’re moving up!

It's these little moments that encompass successful architecture. Like walking through your front door and experiencing light, views and an array of Materiality, all in one moment!

Site Meeting to sign off the doors and windows in Cheltenham on a beautiful sunny day! The stone really glows when the sun hits it and it will just get better when the glazing and render is completed.

The beauty of this extension is the volume of space, coupled with 2.5m height doors at the end of the extension, the garden is visible from the front door as you step down through the Georgian hallway, through the bar and into the kitchen.
