NATURAL STONE THAT’S BEEN APPROVED FOR THE COTSWOLDS
Choosing the right stone for a new build in the Cotswolds isn’t just about how it looks — it needs to be right for the location and meet the relevant planning requirements.
For this 5-bedroom new build, the natural stone has been pre-approved by Cotswold District Council, giving us confidence that the chosen material is appropriate for the development.
The stone has also been etched and tumbled to give it a more natural, weathered appearance.
So, what does that mean?
🔨 Etched – the surface is lightly textured to reduce the freshly cut, uniform appearance of new stone.
🪨 Tumbled – the stone is gently agitated to soften the edges and corners, creating a more aged, naturally weathered look.
The result is a stone that feels more established and sits naturally within the Cotswold setting.
Behind the finished stonework is a lot of careful planning. We’ve worked closely with Building Control, our structural engineer and the architect throughout the project to make sure the construction details are right.
The project has also been designed to meet the requirements for a structural warranty, giving the future homeowner additional reassurance.
At Thorn Homes, we believe getting the details right starts long before the first stone is laid.
