Yesterday, we attended the Echelon Conference, bringing together professionals from across the industry to share insights, discuss challenges and explore what’s ahead for the sector.

ECL Project | Taking a Closer Look 📋

Following on from our project showreel, we’re taking a more in-depth look at the ECL project and the work that went into Phase 3.

The overall project has been a few years in the making, with Phases 1 and 2 delivering a range of improvements across the site and helping to ensure the facilities remain fit for purpose. Phase 3 continued this work, with a focus on improving the quality of care for ECL and its users.

Delivered over six months, Phase 3 included a range of bespoke and specialist works, all designed around the needs of the facility and the people who use it.

Some of the works included:
🔹 5 new DDA-compliant toilets and wet rooms
🔹 An induction hob to improve safety for customers
🔹 Upgrading the electrical system from single-phase to three-phase
🔹 Colour contrast measures to better support visually impaired users
🔹 A range of other specialist works tailored to the facility

This World Heart Day, we’re proud to be supporting the British Heart Foundation. Our health and safety providers, arlo consultancy services, delivered CPR and defibrillator training to our office-based teams, helping our people feel prepared to respond in an emergency.

Because looking after one another is just as important as the work we do ❤️

The Macmillan Cancer Support Coffee Morning is one of those fundraising events that needs little introduction and this year marks our 4th year taking part! ☕🍰

Once again, the Houghton Group team pulled together to support a cause that means so much to so many. From homemade bakes and sweet treats to plenty of tea and coffee, it was great to see everyone getting involved.

We managed to raise over £100 on the day!👏

Every donation helps Macmillan support people living with cancer across the UK – from diagnosis and treatment through to life beyond cancer.

Here’s to year five! 💚

Last week, we headed to Thorndon Golf Club for the Kids Inspire! 🏌️‍♂️

It was a brilliant day, and we were glad to show our support by contributing towards the day and supporting an incredible charity that we’re proud to continue working with and build a strong relationship with. 🤝

Giving back and supporting the local communities we work in is something we’re always proud to be part of.

We're pleased to announce Houghton Group has been appointed to deliver a significant programme of improvements at the Freight House for Rochford District Council 🏛️

This exciting 10-week project is underway and will see us modernise the building from the ground up, with works including:

▪ Roof repairs
▪ Heating system replacement
▪ Water, electrical and lighting upgrades
▪ Installation of a new building
▪ Fire safety works
▪ Improvements to kitchens, toilets and accessibility

After a busy summer across the business, it was time to put the emails, meetings and to-do lists to one side and enjoy a well-deserved afternoon together! 🙌

We headed to The Tulip in Chelmsford for an afternoon of drinks, plenty of pizza, lots of laughs and most importantly, some time away from work to catch up and enjoy each other’s company.🍕🥂

It was fantastic to see such a great turnout and have everyone together in one room. From those based in our offices, to the teams out on the ground making everything happen every day, our people are what make Houghton Group what it is.

Awaab's Law is changing again. Are you ready?

From 30th November 2026, Phase 2 will introduce statutory response times for a wider range of serious hazards, including electrical risks, excess cold and heat, fire, falls and pest infestations.

This is more than a damp and mould issue. It's a compliance issue, an operational issue and above all, a resident welfare issue.

We're proud to support a growing number of social housing providers as their compliance partner, helping them stay ahead of legislation and protect the people in their homes.
