Here's something that doesn't get discussed enough. A security system shouldn't make everyday life unnecessarily difficult.

If it's constantly producing avoidable activations, difficult to operate or inconvenient around your routine, there's a risk you'll simply stop setting it. And then even excellent equipment isn't protecting much.

Good system design considers the people living with it.

Pets.
Children.
Night-time routines.
Different entry points.
Regular visitors.
How you leave and enter the property.

And there's an important trade-off.

A wider view can show more of an area. But depending on the camera and setup, capturing a huge area doesn't necessarily mean you'll get the useful detail you want everywhere within that image.

That's why professional CCTV design starts with the question:

What do we actually need this camera to achieve?

Overview of the garden?
Coverage of a driveway?
Detail around an entrance?
Monitoring a specific access route?

Once you know the purpose, you can choose and position the equipment accordingly.
