⚡ Choosing the right electrician for your EICR matters. ⚡
From 1 October 2026, the Electrotechnical Assessment Specification (EAS) introduces new competence requirements for anyone carrying out Periodic Inspection and Testing, including Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs).
From this date, individuals undertaking EICRs will be expected to hold a recognised Level 3 Inspection & Testing qualification and be able to demonstrate and document their competence in accordance with the latest industry requirements.
An EICR is much more than simply testing a few circuits. It involves a detailed inspection of your electrical installation, identifying potential safety issues, and producing a report that complies with BS 7671.
When choosing someone to carry out an EICR, don’t just look for the cheapest quote. Make sure they’re suitably qualified, experienced and able to provide a thorough inspection you can trust.
A properly completed EICR takes time, knowledge and attention to detail. The aim is to ensure your electrical installation is safe, identify any defects, and provide an accurate report—not simply to issue the cheapest certificate.
