When people talk about finding hidden gems, I didn’t expect one to be practically on my doorstep.

My first visit to Healey Dell back in 2021 felt like stepping into a tropical paradise rather than Rochdale - waterfalls flowing, woodland stretching for miles, and the sound of nature replacing the usual hustle and bustle. It was like Bali 2 years before hand …🌿💦

There’s even a lovely café and tea rooms to round off the walk, making it a perfect day out.

I deliberately blurred the water in this shot to capture its movement and the calmness of the moment. Standing there, listening to the waterfall, the world seemed to slow down for a while. Although looking at the photo, it may also appear I forgot how to focus… I’ll let you decide that 😆

Some places don’t just tell history… they wear it proudly 🏛️✨

Rochdale Town Hall is one of Britain’s finest Victorian Gothic landmarks, standing proudly since 1871. From its stunning stained glass to its grand stonework and historic interiors, every corner tells a story of Rochdale’s rich heritage.

From M9’s perspective, this album captures the beauty, character and timeless spirit of this iconic building ❤️📸

Back in 2020 when Covid had us all practically welded to the house 🏡😅
I somehow became a professional garden wanderer with my mobile camera 📱🌿

While everyone else was baking banana bread… I was out in the garden, lost in my own little world pretending I was a top abstract photographer 😂

Then I spotted the windmill spinning away in the breeze and thought…
“YES. This is art. This is deep. This belongs in an M9 gallery.” 🎨🤣

So naturally I took about 47 photos of this windmill from every possible angle and after a few hours deliberating the best photo made a decision on the most interesting abstract version 📸💨

Funny how lockdown made us slow down and appreciate the little things… green space, fresh air, and random windmills/garden decorations 😆

A little throwback to one of my favourite creative shoots 📸🍭

It’s easy to think you need to travel somewhere amazing to capture a great photograph… but honestly, some of the most fun and creative images can come from the simplest things right in front of you.

This shot was created using a very ordinary sweet you’d probably walk past in the shop without thinking twice 😅🍬

But that’s what I love about photography — it completely changes the way you see everyday objects. A different angle, lighting, and perspective can turn something so small into a piece of art 🤩

A reminder that photography is so much more than just what meets the eye ✨

Now the important question… who can guess the sweet - comment below and use the tag 👀

DOVESTONE ALBUM UPDATE ‼️🙌

Updated my Dovestone album with some new shots — and I think this lensball image might be my favourite yet.

Something about seeing the landscape flipped, reflected and reshaped across the lake makes you stop for a second. The colours, the symmetry, the way light changes everything depending on perspective… it’s a reminder that the same place can look completely different when you choose to see it another way.

Nature never really repeats itself. Same lake. Same hills. Different moment entirely.

Which version catches your eye first — the world inside the sphere, or the one around it? ✨🌊📸

🍺🔮 Started my photography business in 2019, in Bali - exactly how all successful entrepreneurs do… sitting in a beach bar with a Bintang in one hand and a lensball in the other 😂📸

Some people write business plans…
I apparently photograph coconuts upside down through a crystal ball 😅

Still… can’t complain when the view looked like this 🌴☀️

Ancient beach vibes, cold beer, and me pretending I totally know what I’m doing with camera settings 🤝

If this is the beginning of M9 Stories, things are about to get weird… and slightly out of focus 🍻😂

Throwback to 2022 at the bridge between Deansgate railway station and Deansgate tram station. I remember standing there waiting for the human traffic jam to clear for about three seconds of peace before the perfect lensball moment appeared. Suddenly the tunnel lined up, the Deansgate towers framed perfectly, and I knew I had to go full photography goblin mode 📸🔮

So there I was… lying flat on my belly on usually busy bridge, balancing a lensball like I was summoning Manchester’s transport spirits, while commuters and shoppers walked past giving me the kind of looks normally reserved for escaped patients. 🖤✅

But honestly, after a few minutes I was completely in my own world — focused, obsessed, and doing what I do best: turning a random city walkway into my own abstract-style photography masterpiece 🙌

Who reckons that this would be loved by Mancs?

A unique, one of a kind print of Deansgate to light up your flat living space or home office?

Would the The Manc be interested?

The argument was about something incredibly important… which I now cannot remember at all. Classic 🤪🫣

Instead of admitting defeat (obviously not an option), I did what any reasonable adult would do—I grabbed my backpack, my camera gear, and dramatically stormed off to Piethorne Valley like I was in a low-budget indie film 📸

Now, Piethorne has this way of making you feel small—in a poetic way, not in a “you forgot your tripod” way (which I also did). Anyway, I’m wandering around, still mildly annoyed, when I spot… a muddy puddle.

Yes. A puddle 🫠💦

At this point, most people would walk past it. Not me. I’m crouching down like I’ve just discovered a rare species, pulling out my glass sphere, probably looking like I’ve lost the plot entirely. A couple of sheep and some people nearby definitely judged me.

But then—through the lens—boom. The puddle transforms. Suddenly it’s not just mud and water, it’s this weird, upside-down, artsy masterpiece. And just like that, my bad mood is gone, replaced by, “Wait… this might actually be good.”

Fast forward to now, and somehow that random “post-argument puddle moment” has turned into one of my most popular prints at my market stall 🤩🤯

So it turns out storming off in a huff (probably my fault anyway) and photographing muddy puddles is, creatively speaking, a solid strategy. ✅🙌

Honestly, I might start more arguments.

‼️Introducing……M9 STORIES‼️

Sharing moments throughout my business journey ✅

April 2019 - ‘the day I lost my (lens) balls 🔮

7 years apart… same spot, same vibes… slightly more experienced and a lot more careful around lakes 😅

First pic: me, living my best life with my lensball before accidentally launching my lensballs into the lake like an Olympic sport.

Second pic: me, deep in a run, thinking about life and having a proper nostalgic moment.

Honestly though my lensballs were gone forever… but shoutout to the absolute legend of a local fisherman who saw it happen, fished them out, and returned them to me a few weeks later after he had got I touch with the local council . Real-life hero behaviour 🐐🙌

This was right at the start of M9s journey — when I had more enthusiasm than sense 😂 but looking back, it’s these random, chaotic little moments that stick with you the most in business.

Mad to think how far things have come since then with my business . Still learning, still grafting… just (hopefully) dropping less stuff in water 💦 🫣

Grateful for the journey — and for people who fish out your mistakes when you mess up 🙌

Feel free to comment, resonate or share (Orrell water park was very busy that day and soo many people must have see me lose my lensballs)🤣🙋‍♂️📸

Thank you

Keep checking back for more stories posted at random points, no structure just nostalgia, reflection and moments to take life as it comes 📸🤩
