This summer really has been one to remember for so many reasons but maybe for us, sharing our knowledge of Dry Stone Walling, its history and its future along with how it supports such a vast array of fauna and flora with so many wonderful people during a packed program of workshops The Newt in Somerset is just so special. Thank you to everyone who has joined us for the first 10 workshops of the season which have been virtually sold out. We are looking forward to the rest of our summer of sharing through the workshops.

Today marks the Summer solstice and mid-summers day in the northern hemisphere. Without doubt my favourite creation is the Blackdown Solar Circle near Hardy Monuments in Dorset. Every summer and Winter solstice as the sun rises and sets it shines through an opening in one of the Forest Marble towers to illuminate the central Portland standing stone.Thank you for the commission and Simon Banton for setting it out.

The beginning of 100m2 of Chedworth Pitchers that will create a series of pathways that meander through the newly planted gardens in a beautiful spot in Wiltshire. The reclaimed York paving is now laid.

We have recently completed the renovation of a swimming pool with reclaimed York stone supplied by and Somerset Buff self bound gravel. Add to the mix a little summer sunshine and all is set fair.

Rebuilding an old wall in Dorset using the existing stone and what a treat… Forest Marble Sandstone. A stone that many of the villages in North Dorset are built with but sadly not readily available but that’s what makes it that more special when the opportunity comes along. Coping is again Forest Marble Sandstone.
