Is this happening to you? If you are lighting your stove for the first time this season, please be aware that you could have a cold air pocket in your flue, especially if the temperature is higher outside than in.
When we do a smoke test at the end of a sweep, we are experiencing this a lot the past week. Don't panic!
Get a small fire going with lots of kindling and firelighters to get some heat up the flue before loading it up with wood/coal!

Emergency call out this morning to the beautiful in Settle. One of their fireplaces was filling the hallway with smoke, so it needed a very good sweep ready for a wedding later on in the day!

Great to give this Town and Country stove a make over. It needed a good sweep, door rope seal, a new flue rope and a polish to bring it back to life.
The only thing that is needed now, is some new glass!

It was lovely to revisit this customer today. They forgot to tell us that Rob would have two new and extremely helpful assistants, to peacefully guide him through the sweep!

What do you notice about this bird nest removal?
Wool! So much sheeps wool is used by the Jackdaws to build their cosy nests in the chimney pots around the beautiful Dales! The lanolin in the wool really helps to keep our rods lovely and clean!
