🚨 Evening Call-Out – Carlisle 🚨

Got the call on the way home today and we were on site within the hour. 💨

On arrival, we found 2 blocked gullies at the property. Both were rodded and thoroughly flushed through to the inspection chamber, restoring full flow. 💧

Renovation works are currently ongoing at the property, and with the rear yard full of building materials and waste, soil, rubble and debris had found its way into the gullies, causing the blockages.

💩 It’s been a day for curry today! 😂

Another blockage attended by the DS Drainage team. On inspection, we found the blockage was caused by a collapsed T-piece on the septic tank inlet.

🚨 EMERGENCY CALL-OUT – PENRITH 🚨

Late call-out for the DS Drainage team last night in Penrith to a surcharged inspection chamber at the point where the sewer enters the property, causing flooding to the surrounding area. 💩💧

We managed to clear the blockage and get the sewer flowing again before carrying out a full CCTV inspection.

📹 The CCTV identified large tree root ingress into the 150mm sewer line. The roots have entered through a defect in the pipework and are now restricting the internal diameter of the sewer, reducing its ability to cope with increased flows.

🌧️ As this is a combined system carrying foul and rainwater, heavy downpours significantly increase the volume of water passing through the line. With the roots restricting the flow, there is a high risk of the chamber surcharging and flooding again.

🔧 An urgent repair has therefore been requested by the customer. The affected section will need to be excavated, the damaged pipework and root ingress removed, and a new section of 150mm sewer installed to restore the full flow capacity of the system and prevent the roots from re-entering at the damaged section.

Another example of why CCTV inspections are important — clearing the immediate blockage gets things moving, but finding and repairing the underlying fault is what provides the long-term solution. ✅

🚨💩 DRAINAGE CALL-OUT – THE FLEECE, RULEHOLME, CARLISLE 💩🚨

Called out this morning to a blockage at The Fleece, Ruleholme, Carlisle.

Upon inspection, we found multiple inspection chambers full and surcharged, with the sewage treatment plant pumps not working and the system completely full.

✅ Initial investigation carried out

🚛 System emptied to allow further investigation

We called in Septic Wizards to empty the system for us and, as usual, they provided a fast and efficient response, arriving within a couple of hours. 👏🚛

Once emptied, we’ll return later this week to carry out a full inspection and CCTV survey to get to the bottom of the issue and advise on the correct repair.

🚨💩 EVENING CALLOUT – ORTON ROAD, CARLISLE 💩🚨

Called out this evening to a blocked inspection chamber on Orton Road, Carlisle.

We attended site, cleared the blockage and got the sewer running again before carrying out a CCTV inspection to find the cause. 📹🔍

The customer had recently had a new driveway installed, and during the work a 100mm land drainage pipe had been connected directly into the existing 100mm sewer without the correct fitting. ❌

This poor connection was catching waste and had eventually caused the sewer to completely block. 💩🚫

✅ Sewer unblocked and flowing
✅ CCTV inspection completed
✅ Fault located
✅ Incorrect land drain connection identified
✅ Permanent repair advised

The only correct solution is to excavate down to the sewer, remove the incorrect connection and install a proper Y-branch and fittings, allowing everything to flow as it should. 👷‍♂️🔧

📅 Repair booked in for Wednesday next week — another problem found and a permanent solution on the way.

Another evening call-out completed by the DS Drainage team in Carlisle. 💪

We attended a property with a blocked toilet, cleared the blockage and then carried out a CCTV inspection to find out exactly what was causing the problem. 📹🔍

The CCTV showed an incorrect connection into the existing cast-iron soil stack. The fitting has been installed at ground level and is catching waste as it passes, causing a build-up inside the soil stack and resulting in repeated blockages. 🚫💩

✅ Cause of the problem identified
✅ Incorrect soil stack connection found
✅ Customer advised on the permanent solution

The customer has now asked us to replace the existing soil stack and install the pipework correctly, preventing the same problem from continuing. 🔧👌
