🏠 Another renovation project completed for 5 Star Joinery — this time out at Morland.

A lovely rural vicarage getting a well-deserved modernisation by Richard and his team.

This is actually the 3rd roof we’ve recently completed for 5 Star Joinery, so it’s great to be building a strong working relationship with the team. 👌

The existing lead roof had unfortunately perished and split in several places, and there were also concerns about the amount of heat being lost through the roof.

The existing roof was stripped back and installed a fully upgraded warm roof system, dramatically improving the thermal performance of the building while providing a modern, durable waterproofing solution.

Another project where getting the specification right makes a huge difference — and with the amount of heat that was previously escaping, the insulation upgrade should no doubt pay for itself over time. 💷

Another warm roof installation completed for Peter Halliburton Builders.

This project involved quite a bit of detailing, and as always, we worked closely with the builder to ensure the roof performs as well in the long term as it does on day one.

One recommendation we made was to remove the waterproofing over the cavity to the outer leaf. The parapet walls on this build are having decorative coping stones fitted, and from over 20 years of experience, we’ve found that the most common point of failure is the mortar joints in the coping stones. Over time, they dry out, crack, and allow water ingress, so it’s important to detail these areas correctly from the outset.

We also had concerns about the volume of rainwater this roof will need to handle, so we fabricated and welded three large custom scuppers on site to ensure the drainage system can comfortably cope with even the heaviest rainfall.

A lot of thought and attention to detail has gone into this one. It’s these small details that make a big difference to the longevity and performance of a flat roof.

Emergency call-out after the recent heavy rain in Carlisle.
