When I thought I was going home, Friday afternoon call out, one of my customers had a large yellow stain on the bathroom ceiling. Cut ceiling open and found poorly installed pipework. Removed the hot and colds to get to the heating return pipe. Replaced that and re fitted the hot and colds.

Tested and all ok.

Old boiler in the loft. Poorly fitted , airing cupboard a mess. Old back boiler left in the lounge and still connected with gas and water. Utterly lazy.

Airing cupboard was completely stripped out, plasterboarded to freshen it up, new 10yr warranty Baxi UK combi installed. Condense pump under the bedroom floor and into the bath waste with a new bath panel. The customer didn't ask but I reboarded the airing cupboard ceiling as the heat and dust was coming down into the cupboard in the bedroom, was the right thing to do for the sake of half hour or so.

Fixed the uneven bedroom floor with a sheet of 5.5mm ply. The flue is all screwed clipped and supported. CO alarm in the bedroom.

A really really really good job. All done on my own as every contractor I've ever used has let me down so I'm on my own again now, jobs take an extra day or so but they're done right first time with no stupid recalls.

A nice neat job that will still be here long after I've retired 😜😆

Weds and Thurs (today and tomorrow) I'm on a new boiler system on my own off of Zealand road CT1, this customer has been with me for 9yrs, she's at work, I'm home alone cracking on with it all. She mentioned she wanted to get rid of the crappy manky bath panel. I had to go under the bath to connect the boiler condenser waste to the drainage. So she doesn't know it yet but she's got a very shiny new bath panel 😎🙌🏼🥳😁😉😝🤫🤫

How long until she notices ??? Place your bets 😝 Love surprising my customers with a little thought and going beyond what's expected 💖

A new customer called me on Saturday for a smell of gas. I was already at work and didn't get home until 1015pm as it was.

I advised her to call SGN who attended within the hour. They confirmed an active leak and cut the meter off. Fortunately they are not moving in just yet.

I went out at 0830 this morning to carry out a trace & repair.

6mb drop over the two min test. An electronic sniffer was used to help locate the area.

Lifted the kitchen lino and floor boards.

Found a 45cm section of gas pipe that had been hit multiple times with flooring pins. The pins were to hold the hardboard down but were too long. Penetrated straight through the hardboard,the floorboards and then the gas pipe.

I used my grinder to shave off the many many many nail heads that were on the underside of the floorboards.

A new section of gas pipe was installed, a drop test was carried out and that passed. 0mb drop over the two min test period.

The customer then wanted a quotation for a complete bathroom rip out and re-model so we spent some time discussing that over a brew and taking measurements. Hopefully back in November to do that.

Vacuumed, tidied, unblocked the bathroom sink not that she asked but I noticed,so I did, fixed the spray head on her kitchen sink too, again, just because I noticed and it's the right thing to do.

Lovely lady. I got this job because I've worked for her son a number of times.
