What if you could choose when your home uses energy from the grid? ⚡

That’s one of the biggest advantages of adding battery storage to a home energy system.

With solar, a battery can store more of the electricity your panels generate during the day, ready to use later when the sun goes down.

And with the right electricity tariff, it can also charge from the grid during cheaper off-peak periods, giving you the option to use that stored energy later when import prices are higher.

It’s not about one system being right for everyone.

Some homes benefit from solar and battery storage. Others may be better suited to solar alone. The right setup depends on how much energy you use, when you use it, the property itself and what you want the system to achieve.

That’s why REST works with established home energy technology from Duracell, Fox ESS and Growatt New Energy, giving us different options for capacity, system design, monitoring and future energy needs.

More control over when you generate, store and use electricity.

Home energy, built around you.

No solar panels? Could a home battery still cut your electricity bill? 🔋

This REST customer has just had over 40kWh of Duracell battery storage installed, without solar.

The batteries can charge from the grid during cheaper off-peak periods, then supply the home when electricity costs more.

As an example, shifting 20kWh a day from a 28p rate to a 7p overnight rate is a difference of around £1,500 a year before battery losses.

The customer can also use the Duracell Energy App to monitor battery charge, home usage and grid power, as well as schedule when the batteries charge.

So if solar isn't suitable for your property, battery storage doesn't necessarily have to be off the table.

This one is on another level. ☀️🔋

Our recent installation in WV16 has grown into a 20.9kWp solar and 57.6kWh battery storage system across the same property.

The complete setup now includes:

☀️ 44 x 475W panels from Eurener
🔋 5 x Fox ESS EP12 batteries providing 57.6kWh of storage
⚡ 2 x Fox ESS inverters
🏠 Mounting equipment supplied by Clenergy
⚡ G99 approved
📈 Around 15,090kWh estimated annual solar generation*

With 44 Eurener panels generating energy across the property and more than 57kWh of Fox ESS battery capacity available to store it, this is a substantial home energy system.

The G99 approval is important too, allowing a larger generation system like this to be connected with the DNO's approval rather than being treated as a standard small domestic installation.

A seriously impressive setup from the REST team in WV16, and a great example of just how far domestic solar and battery storage can be scaled when the property and energy requirements call for it.

*Estimated generation based on the original system projection and the increased installed solar capacity.

How can you trust the savings shown in your solar quote?

A large projected saving might look impressive, but what really matters is the evidence and calculations behind it.

That’s one of the reasons REST works with EPVS.

EPVS independently checks the information used to calculate projected generation and savings, including:

✓ Your energy usage
✓ The proposed solar system
✓ Roof direction and shading
✓ Generation and savings calculations

For homeowners, this provides clearer, evidence-based figures and greater confidence before making such an important decision.

Solar should be sold with clarity, not empty promises.

Flat roofs don’t rule out solar, but they do require the right design.

These are several different REST installations, all using Eurener panels. The layouts vary because every building presents a different combination of space, shading, access and exposure.

If you have a flat roof and want to know what might be possible, send us a photo and postcode. We’ll take a look.

Following on from our recent solar post in the EN5 area, here’s the energy storage behind the system.

Alongside the 34-panel solar array, the REST team installed four Duracell Dura5 batteries, providing the homeowner with 20kWh of battery storage.

This allows more of the electricity generated by the solar panels during the day to be stored for use later, including during the evening or whenever demand around the home increases.

With a 16.15kW solar array and 20kWh of battery capacity working together, this is a substantial home energy system built around the customer’s electricity needs.

A closer look at one of our latest solar installations in the EN5 area.

The REST team installed 34 Eurener 475W solar panels across three roof areas, creating a substantial 16.15kW system designed to make the most of the available roof space.

With Tigo optimisers fitted to support panel-level performance, the system is estimated to generate around 11,000kWh of renewable electricity in its first year.

A brilliant result from the team and an installation that should make a real difference to the amount of electricity this home needs to buy from the grid.

We’ll share the energy storage side of this installation in our next post.

When our customer started looking into solar, she had already spoken to several companies but was still left feeling unsure about making such a big change to her home.

After speaking with REST, she felt reassured that she was getting the right system for her needs - and, most importantly, a team she could trust to do the job properly.

She now has her new Duracell solar and battery system installed and is very happy with both the finished result and the placement of the equipment.

Thank you for choosing REST and for sharing your experience with us.

A closer look behind the scenes at our Maidstone install 👀☀️

Following on from our last video, Mike takes us through the installation from getting the panels onto the roof to a look at the completed system.

This home now has just over 7kW of solar on the roof, paired with a 6kW .ess inverter and two Fox EP12 batteries — giving the homeowner plenty of capacity to generate, store and make better use of their own energy.

The system includes:

☀️ 15 × 475W solar panels
🔋 2 × .ess EP12 batteries
⚡ 6kW Fox inverter
🏠 Just over 7kW of rooftop solar

A great example of how solar and battery storage can work together as one complete home energy system.
