Structural Masonry Repairs – Bourne 🧱
A little look behind the scenes at one of our latest structural repair projects.
Following a structural inspection, the cracking and movement to this bungalow and extension were assessed as being associated with historical movement. With the cause investigated, our job was to carefully repair and strengthen the affected masonry and bring some life back into the building.
We’ve carried out extensive masonry reinforcement across several elevations, carefully cutting out the mortar joints and installing stainless-steel helical reinforcement bars into the existing brickwork using structural repair grout/resin.
Some areas required considerably more attention than others, including around existing openings and where the original bungalow meets the extension. Rather than simply filling the visible cracks, the reinforcement has been installed across the affected masonry to help tie everything together before the joints are made good and the brickwork is finished.
There’s still some finishing and making good to complete, but these photos give a good idea of what goes into this type of repair before the HeliBars disappear back into the brickwork.
Another property where the aim isn’t just to make it look better — it’s to carry out the repair properly and give the existing building a new lease of life.
