Pocket House | MOOi were appointed to design this compact one-bedroom property in the Mill Road Conservation Area, , replacing an existing double garage.
Built using an innovative ICF (Insulated Concrete Formwork) construction, much of the work on site was carried out by the client in order to minimise costs. The modest 45sqm plan is strategically arranged over two storeys, partially sunken at ground floor to reduce the height of the dwelling.
The exterior is clad in locally sourced, handmade gault brick slips with a feature brown roof. The muted palette of materials makes a subtle yet characterful addition to the urban street scene.
