And that's just a selection!!
How has your harvest been this year and what are you doing with it now?
Having read very funny review of Butternut Squash by Tim Hayward a couple of years ago is it time we turned the tables and lauded this versatile autumn veg?
It's shelf life is insane and it's so versatile from spicy soups to stir fries what's not to 🧡
Bring on the orange days of Autumn 🧡

I've been looking forward to a late beetroot harvest and interesting to note they take 4 months from sowing to fairly small beets 🫜🫜🫜🫜🫜🫜
But then it's been hot and dry ☀️
And the mice clearly decided the moisture in the root was tempting 🐭
How drought tolerant is your veg garden?

🌼Time to start thinking about planting PaperWhite Narcissus or Daffodils for indoor display and scent this winter!!
🌼They take about 6-8 weeks to flower so get your timing right for Christmas or a winter party and your room will be filled with a natural and heavenly fragrance
🌼Plant in a mix of 50:50 grit and multipurpose compost, water once and after this only when it looks like the compost has really dried out or the bulbs will rot!

I must admit I've struggled with these orange vitamin rockets for years often going through packets of seed with little return but this year has been different 🏆Don't just throw them in and hope they'll grow here are some top tips!
🥕create a drill or line in the soil and water it before sowing
🥕sprinkle the seeds really close to the soil
🥕tread the line over once you've covered the seed: this was my game changer!
🥕why tread? It creates better contact between the seed and the soil
🥕cover with fine mesh to protect from early 🐭foragers and later carrot fly damage 🪰
🥕save this post for spring 2027😂🥕🌱

A great time of year to give your lavender a gentle trim to remove the sticky flower stems and keep the shrubs in shape before pruning in spring.
Think 'muffin' shape not short back and sides or flat top.
Collect some stems with flower heads still on for drying if you can.

Green manure is such a useful thing to grow!
🫘Nitrogen fixing these seeds
💩cover bare soil quickly,
🌱add nutrients to the soil,
💩naturally keep it lose
🌱stop other weeds from growing by
🥇being there first.

My son told me my aubergine was perfect and it looks like an emoji, I'll take that as a complement 😂
