Cambridge South Station has one of the most impressive solar installations we’ve seen.

Jordan takes a closer look at the station’s innovative renewable energy system, including hundreds of solar panels, double-glass bifacial technology, bespoke curved mounting systems, green roofs and heat pumps.

With 368 solar panels above Platforms 2 and 3 alone, capable of generating up to 136kW, this is a brilliant example of solar energy being integrated beautifully into modern architecture.

As Cambridge-based solar installers, we explore the engineering behind the project and what installations like this could teach us about the future of renewable energy.

When a solar installation turns into a nightmare…

Rob received a grant-funded renewable energy upgrade for his home — solar panels, battery storage, insulation AND a heat pump. Sounds brilliant, right? ☀

Unfortunately, the installation was anything but.
