A beautifully framed view is only half the story.
Handcrafted in timber, the window seats at House Willett create comfortable places to read, reflect or simply pause. A simple detail
that has become a signature feature of many Baufritz homes.

Thank you, Munish and Artika, for such generous words at our 20th anniversary celebration.
At the time, their Baufritz home was being assembled in Trumpington. Today, it has already moved on to the internal fit-out stage - another step closer to the moment they can finally call it home.
What stayed with us most from your message was the sense that building a Baufritz home is about more than the house itself. It is also about the people, the shared experience and the community that grows around it.
Or, as Munish put it rather perfectly: “Baufritzers”

Welcome to the family!

Not everyone who turns up to a house photoshoot is particularly interested in German engineering. Some are mainly there for the underfloor heating, easy access to the garden and the possibility of biscuits.

Walking into our factory for the first time is always a little surprising.
You expect an industrial space – loud, mechanical, perhaps even filled with unpleasant sounds and smells. Instead, you notice the scent of freshly cut wood and find it surprisingly comforting.
As you walk through the factory, you find yourself admiring the sheer size and beauty of the timber around you. And when you stop to listen to your guide, it is difficult to resist reaching out and touching it.
There is something almost magical about the material we build our homes with.
Wood has been shaped, crafted and lived with for generations. Perhaps there is something deeply familiar in that; something naturally comforting about being surrounded by wood, and about living in a house made from it.

One of the real advantages of prefabrication is that so much of the house can be built in dry, controlled factory conditions.
At Baufritz, that includes the windows and roof windows. They are fitted into the wall and roof modules in the factory, where we can work to millimetre precision and achieve a very tight fit without using PU foam.
Our German-made timber-aluminium windows are triple glazed as standard, with timber on the inside and aluminium protecting the outside. External blinds provide shading and help keep the house comfortable during the warmer months.
Swipe through to see examples of roof windows and rooflights in some of our UK homes, followed by the installation of a roof module at our Schwarzwald show house.
