Our Managing Director and sales team went to UK Construction Week at the NEC last week, and it was well worth the trip.

It was great to catch up with familiar faces, meet new ones and hear first hand what's coming up across commercial and industrial projects. There were plenty of useful conversations about re-roofing, cladding and refurbishment work, and we came back with a few ideas to take forward.

Thank you to everyone who stopped to say hello. If we didn't get the chance to speak, or you'd like to continue the conversation, our door is always open.

❌ Myth: Replacing an industrial roof means shutting down operations.
In many cases, it doesn’t.

With the right planning, phased works and safety measures in place, industrial roof refurbishment can often be carried out while the building remains fully operational.

That can mean:
- Staff continuing to work inside
- Production carrying on as normal
- Deliveries and site access remaining operational
- Minimal disruption to day-to-day business

For businesses operating from warehouses, factories and other live environments, keeping disruption to a minimum is often just as important as the roofing work itself.

A well-planned roofing project should work around the business, not bring it to a standstill.

The work on top of the roof is only part of the job.

Before roofing works begin, a huge amount of thought goes into making sure the people carrying them out can work safely.

Safety netting is one of the measures used to provide collective fall protection beneath the working area, helping to reduce the consequences of a fall while roof works are taking place.

It may not be the most visible part of a finished project, but during construction, it’s one of the most important.

Good roofing isn’t just about the finished roof.

It’s about making sure everyone gets home safely at the end of the day.

Hope everyone had a great Bank Holiday weekend!

It’s all hands on deck at CRE this week, with plenty happening across a number of live and upcoming projects as we head into September.

From ongoing works on site to everything being coordinated behind the scenes, it’s shaping up to be another busy and productive week.

We’re looking forward to keeping the momentum going and making a strong start to the month.

Six buildings transformed while business carried on.

Our Leatherhead project is a great example of what careful planning can achieve in a live commercial environment.

The works were completed across six separate buildings, with trade continuing throughout. That meant every stage had to be planned around the day-to-day operation of the site, from access and deliveries through to sequencing, health & safety and communication.

Rather than treating the roofing works in isolation, the project had to be approached around the needs of the businesses below. By phasing the programme carefully and coordinating closely with everyone involved, we were able to keep disruption to a minimum while progressing the works safely and efficiently.

For our clients, that can make a huge difference. A major roof refurbishment doesn’t always have to mean major disruption.

If your roof needs attention but your business can’t afford to stop, the right planning can make all the difference.

Good leadership means staying close to the work. 👷‍♂️

At Cambridge Roof Exchange, our Managing Director, makes a point of visiting every site and staying directly involved with the projects we deliver.

It’s not just about checking progress. It’s about understanding what’s happening on the ground, speaking with the teams carrying out the work and making sure every project is being delivered to the standards we expect.

Being present on site allows us to keep a close eye on:
- Health & safety and site compliance
- Quality of workmanship
- Project progress and programme
- Site organisation and working practices
- Any challenges that need addressing

That hands-on involvement helps ensure decisions are made with a clear understanding of the project, while giving our teams the support they need to keep things moving.

As Cambridge Roof Exchange continues to grow and take on larger projects, maintaining that connection with our sites remains an important part of how we operate.

Because delivering a successful project isn’t something that can be managed entirely from behind a desk.

It comes from being present, understanding the work and maintaining high standards from start to finish.

Another busy week coming to a close at Cambridge Roof Exchange 👷‍♂️

We’ve got one of our current projects now nearing completion, with the final stages coming together nicely.

Alongside that, there have been plenty of smaller works taking place across different sites, while good progress continues to be made across our other live projects.

The cooler weather this week has also been a welcome change, making conditions much more comfortable for the teams working out on the roofs.

It’s great to see everything moving forward and another productive week from everyone on site.

Plenty more happening next week, so we’ll have more progress and project updates to share soon.

Have a great weekend!

A look back at one of our completed projects in Dartford 👷‍♂️

This project involved upgrading the roofs across four industrial units, with the aim of improving the buildings’ long-term performance, efficiency and reliability.

The works included improved thermal performance, new triple-skin rooflights, upgraded guttering and a roofing system designed to support future solar PV installation.

The finished system is also backed by the TATA Confidex Guarantee, giving the client added reassurance over the quality and durability of the installation.

Projects like this show how a commercial roof refurbishment can do much more than simply replace an ageing roof, it can help improve energy efficiency, reduce future maintenance requirements and make the building better prepared for what comes next.

If you’re responsible for a commercial or industrial building and are unsure about the condition of your roof, book a roof survey with Cambridge Roof Exchange. We can assess the roof, discuss the options available and provide a no-obligation quotation for any recommended works.

A productive day out on site today, with visits to two of our current projects 👷‍♂️

It’s been great to see the progress being made across both sites, with the roofing works continuing to move forward well.

The noticeably cooler weather today has certainly made a welcome change, much better conditions for the teams working up on the roofs after some of the recent heat.

For anyone I haven’t introduced myself to yet, I’m Ben, the new marketing guy here at Cambridge Roof Exchange, which may be why you’ve been seeing a bit more content from us recently.

We’ve certainly got plenty to share with how busy things are at the moment!

Plenty still happening across all projects, and it’s always good to get out on site and see the work taking shape first-hand.

Looking forward to sharing the finished results.
