Is being obsessed with making more money a healthy mindset, or is it actually damaging your mental health? 🧠

I know my last video was a bit of rage bait and upset a few people. But luckily, I’ve got some good news…

Too many tradesmen are obsessed with earning more money without actually knowing how much they NEED to earn just to keep their business running.

You’re chasing turnover, working longer hours and living in constant chaos.

But are you running your business, or is your business running you?

This is exactly what my business coach is teaching me right now. How to understand my numbers, implement systems and start thinking like a business owner rather than a tradesman.

And I’ve realised something about myself…

I learn better when I’m helping other people learn.

So instead of keeping everything I’m learning to myself, I’m bringing you along on the journey.

I’ve created a completely FREE break-even calculator to help you understand your fixed costs and work out exactly how much you need to earn EVERY DAY just to keep your business afloat.

No selling. No catch. Just sharing what I’m learning and helping other tradesmen take back control of their businesses.

📩 DM me “BEYOND THE TOOLS” and I’ll send you the free form.

Because before you can make more money, you need to understand where your money is going.

STOP CHASING TURNOVER. START UNDERSTANDING YOUR NUMBERS. 🔥

🚨 AI IS COMING FOR THE OFFICE JOBS… BUT WHAT DOES THAT MEAN FOR THE TRADES? 👀

While everyone’s worrying about AI replacing their jobs, I’m looking at the bigger picture.

AI can write emails, manage accounts, produce reports and automate entire office departments.

But it can’t climb onto a roof, build an extension or install foundations. 🛠️

So what happens when thousands of people start looking for careers that require their hands instead of a keyboard?

MORE PEOPLE ENTER THE TRADES. MORE COMPETITION. MORE PRESSURE ON PRICES.

And that leaves us with TWO OPTIONS. 👇

1️⃣ Keep doing what we’ve always done. Compete on price, work harder and hope for the best.

2️⃣ Start thinking like BUSINESS OWNERS. Build brands, implement systems, embrace AI ourselves and create businesses that can survive in a changing world.

The irony is, while AI could push more people INTO the trades, it could also be the very thing that helps existing tradesmen get OFF the tools.

The future doesn’t belong to the hardest worker. It belongs to those willing to adapt.

💬 DO YOU THINK AI WILL MAKE TRADESMEN MORE VALUABLE OR CREATE TOO MUCH COMPETITION?

JUST BECAUSE YOU’VE GOT A SIGN-WRITTEN VAN DOESN’T MEAN YOU’VE GOT A FU***NG BUSINESS. 🚨

You’ve got the logo, the uniform, the paperwork, the Instagram page and you’re telling everyone you’re a business owner.

But do you actually understand the fundamentals of running a business?

Your profit margins? Your cash flow? Your systems? Your structure? Your numbers?

Or are you just winging it every fu***ng day, putting out fires and calling it entrepreneurship?

Here’s the uncomfortable truth nobody wants to hear…

You haven’t built a business. You’ve built yourself a JOB.

And probably one with longer hours, more stress and less freedom than the one you left behind.

Because when YOU stop, EVERYTHING stops.

No systems. No structure. No income without your involvement.

And the scariest part? THE CLOCK IS FU***NG TICKING. ⏳

We’re so busy trying to LOOK like successful business owners that we’ve forgotten to learn how to actually BECOME one.

I know because I’ve been that person.

The goal isn’t to OWN a job. The goal is to BUILD a business that can operate without you.

It’s time to stop looking the part and start learning the part.

BEYOND THE TOOLS. 🔥

I’VE SPENT SO LONG IN SURVIVAL MODE THAT I’VE FORGOTTEN HOW TO LIVE WITHOUT IT. 🧠

For so long, I’ve been operating out of panic, stress and desperation.

Constantly reacting to problems, making decisions under pressure and trying to control situations that feel completely out of my control.

And the crazy thing is…

SOMETIMES THERE’S NOTHING LEFT TO SURVIVE.

I’ve just become so used to chaos that it’s become my normal way of operating.

But I’m starting to realise something.

The mindset that helped me survive as a tradesman isn’t necessarily the mindset that’s going to help me succeed as a business owner.

It’s time to make some changes.

🔥 Replace PANIC with PLANNING.

🔥 Replace STRESS with STRUCTURE.

🔥 Replace DESPERATION with DISCIPLINE.

I’m learning to stop reacting emotionally and start making decisions with clarity, confidence and purpose.

Taking back control of my mind, my decisions and my business.

Because getting off the tools isn’t just about changing what I do every day.

IT’S ABOUT CHANGING THE WAY I THINK.

I’m no longer just trying to survive the business I’ve built.

I’M BECOMING THE PERSON MY BUSINESS NEEDS ME TO BE. 🚀

The perfect time is a myth. We’re pressing record anyway. 🎙️🔥

Welcome to BEYOND THE TOOLS.

No fake success stories. No pretending we’ve got it all figured out.

Just the raw, unfiltered reality of running a business.

The chaos. The pressure. The mistakes. The sleepless nights. The problems we’re all facing but too scared to talk about.

I was supposed to launch this podcast in a beautiful studio, with the perfect background, the perfect setup, the perfect everything…

But then I realised something.

PROCRASTINATION IS THE PRICE YOU PAY FOR TRYING TO BE PERFECT.

And that’s exactly what’s holding so many of us back.

So f**k perfection. We’re starting now.

I’m taking you behind the scenes as I go from working IN my business to working ON my business. Sharing the failures, the lessons, the systems and the reality of trying to build something bigger.

I’m not here to pretend I’ve made it. I’m here to document what it actually takes.

Less putting it off. More taking action.

If you’re a tradesman or business owner who’s tired of waiting for the perfect time and ready to actually build success, this one’s for you.

BEYOND THE TOOLS. 🎙️

We’re starting right now.

🚀 YOU CAN BE SO HUNGRY FOR SUCCESS THAT YOU END UP RUNNING 100MPH IN THE WRONG DIRECTION.

When you’ve spent years manifesting your dream, you become so emotionally attached to the destination that you’re willing to do things the average person wouldn’t even consider.

The sacrifices, the pressure, the sleepless nights, the obsession with becoming successful. 🔥

But here’s something I’m learning…

JUST BECAUSE YOU’RE MOVING FAST DOESN’T MEAN YOU’RE MOVING FORWARD.

I’ve spent so much time chasing the end goal that sometimes I’ve forgotten to plan the journey.

Imagine jumping in your car, putting your foot to the floor and driving 100mph without a sat-nav.

You’ve got the fuel, the engine and the determination… BUT HAVE YOU GOT THE RIGHT DIRECTION? 🧭

That’s where having the right mentors, coaches, systems and processes changes EVERYTHING.

I’m learning that success isn’t just about how hard you’re prepared to work. It’s about how well you prepare for the journey.

💯 THE MAN WHO ENJOYS THE JOURNEY WILL ALWAYS GO FURTHER THAN THE MAN WHO’S OBSESSED WITH THE DESTINATION.

I’m not losing my hunger. I’m learning to give it direction.

WORK SMARTER. PLAN BETTER. DREAM BIGGER. 🚀

👇 Be honest… are you making progress or just keeping yourself busy?

🚨 I’M THE PERFECT EXAMPLE OF THE 7 P’s IN BUSINESS! 🤦‍♂️😂

PROPER PLANNING AND PREPARATION PREVENTS PISS-POOR PERFORMANCE!

And today, I learnt that lesson the hard way! 💀

But here’s a question for every business owner out there…

Is being a good problem solver actually a strength, or is it just a sign that you’re poorly organised? 🤔

Because I’ve spent years building businesses by finding solutions to problems that probably shouldn’t have existed in the first place!

Today was another perfect example.

Things didn’t go to plan. We were under pressure, running behind, and it would’ve been easy to throw in the towel, reschedule and call it a day.

But here’s the problem…

That decision doesn’t just affect me. It affects the customer, the next job, the team and everyone else relying on us.

So what do you do?

💪 You grin and bear it.

🔨 You get stuck in.

🧠 You find the solution.

🔥 YOU FIND A WAY!

Yes, we might be late. Yes, it’s stressful. But ultimately, the job gets done and we honour our commitments.

And that’s where I’m starting to see business differently.

Being a great problem solver might get you out of trouble, but being a great business owner means building systems that stop you getting into trouble in the first place.

That’s the difference between working IN your business and working ON your business.

I’m learning that success isn’t about how many fires you can put out.

It’s about how many fires you can prevent from starting. 🔥

I’m not pretending I’ve got it all figured out. I’m documenting the mistakes, the lessons and the changes I’m making along the way.

Because getting off the tools doesn’t just mean putting the hammer down.

It means picking up the responsibility of becoming a better leader.

👇 BUSINESS OWNERS, BE HONEST…

Are you genuinely good at solving problems, or have you just become really good at surviving your own poor planning? 😂

TODAY I STOPPED WORKING IN MY BUSINESS… AND STARTED WORKING ON IT. 🚀

Today was a bit of an eye-opener for me.

My business coach set me a task to start implementing SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) into my company.

For anyone who doesn’t know, SOPs are basically step-by-step systems that explain how things should be done in your business, so you’re not constantly relying on yourself to make every decision or solve every problem.

At first, I thought it was just another bit of paperwork. 😂

But something interesting happened…

For the first time, I felt like I was looking AT my business from the outside, rather than being stuck INSIDE it.

I started seeing things differently.

The gaps in my systems. The things I was doing that someone else could be doing. The problems that kept repeating themselves simply because I hadn’t put a process in place.

And then it clicked. 💡

You can’t scale a business if YOU are the system.

For years, I’ve been so focused on getting the jobs done, keeping customers happy and chasing the next project that I never really stopped to build the structure behind it all.

Now I’m learning that growth isn’t always about doing MORE.

Sometimes it’s about stepping back, getting organised and building something that works without you having to hold every piece together.

I’m still learning. Still making mistakes. Still figuring things out.

But I’m bringing you along for the journey because I know there’s a lot of tradesmen and business owners out there going through exactly the same thing.

Getting off the tools doesn’t mean doing less work. It means learning to do a different kind of work. 🔥

And today felt like another step in the right direction.

👇 Business owners, be honest… are you running your business, or is your business running YOU?

🚨 IF EVERY PROBLEM IN YOUR BUSINESS FEELS LIKE AN EMERGENCY, YOU DON’T NEED TO WORK HARDER — YOU NEED A SYSTEM.

This is probably one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned from running businesses.

I used to deal with every problem like it was brand new.

Customer changes their mind? Stress.

Job gets delayed? Stress.

Lead doesn’t answer? Stress.

Payment doesn’t come in? Stress.

Customer gets buyer’s remorse? Stress.

Staff member makes a mistake? Stress.

But eventually you realise…

Most business problems aren’t new. They’re REPEATING.

And if a problem repeats, it can be categorised.

If it can be categorised, it can have a PROCESS.

And if it has a process, your team doesn’t need to panic every time it happens.

🔥 Buyer’s remorse → aftercare process
🔥 New lead → sales process
🔥 Complaint → resolution process
🔥 Job booked → onboarding process
🔥 Payment overdue → accounts process
🔥 Mistake on site → reporting process
🔥 Customer finished → review & referral process

STOP SOLVING THE SAME PROBLEM 100 TIMES.

Solve it properly once.

Document it.

Build a system around it.

Train your people on it.

Then the next time it happens, you’re prepared instead of reactive.

That’s something I wish I understood years ago.

Business will always throw problems at you.

The goal isn’t to build a business with no problems.

The goal is to build a business that already knows what to do when they happen.

I’m documenting what I’m learning as I build, systemise and grow my own businesses — including the mistakes that taught me the most.

If you’re a business owner who feels overwhelmed, disorganised or trapped doing everything yourself…

Follow me.
