**Experienced Site Operatives Required**

are looking for experienced site operatives as follows:

🛑 Nottingham - 6 persons - commencing 22nd June
🛑 Birmingham - 3 persons - commencing July

All must be experienced in fitting external rainspan panels, Corium brick slip and aluminium panels. Valid and in date CSCS cards and the CITB's Fire Safety Awareness in Construction and the Built Environment are required.

Full site induction including Right To Work checks will be carried out.

**Why No Falls Week matters**

Falls from height are still consistently the leading cause of workplace fatalities in the UK.

Latest figures from the Health and Safety Executive show that 35 people lost their lives at work due to a fall from height in 2024/25.

Falls from height were responsible for 28% of all workplace deaths (this proportion was 25% in 2021/22, 30% in 2022/23, and rising to 36% in 2023/24).

are presently working for and in collaboration with Willmott Dixon on a long term project in the Midlands. They were approached by the site management team to support No Falls Week as part of a nationwide initiative.

' site management team have certainly lead by example and last week conducted the following to raise awareness to assist in developing a good safety culture surrounding working at height:

~ Er****on of a mock tower with intentional faults to support a training session to identify hazards
~ Toolbox Talk for working at height
~ Working at height Quiz

The event was a great success with the full site team fully engaged.

Thanks and appreciation was received from Willmott Dixon's Construction Manager who said:

"Thank you for today's efforts. It was a positive and well executed event with your talk about falls, the quiz, and the mock tower test. It was clearly engaging for your workforce and will hopefully raise awareness on prevention and protection from falls going forward.

**Breast Care Unit, Stafford County Hospital - Project Complete**

We are delighted to share that and have completed their works on the state-of-the-art new Breast Care Unit for Integrated Health Projects via Vinci Building. The purpose-built, two-storey building at County Hospital in Stafford (University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust), will provide breast services including – one stop breast clinics, breast screening, diagnostic imaging and breast surgical outpatient services.

In summary our teams installed the following products and systems:

~ Metsec SFS
~ Knauf Insulation
~ IKO Armourplan Single Ply Membrane System
~ Cavity Barriers
~ Rockpanel Rainscreen (in 3 different colours, Grey, Woods & Green)

The photos are fabulous and as always do not show the extent of the first class workmanship and expertise our site teams deliver project after project!

**World of Work Day**

Later this month one of our key clients, VINCI Building UK, will be supporting a local SEND school in Birmingham with their . Sensory based activities will be enjoyed by the children when volunteers from Vinci support the interactive day which will be centred on construction.

Presently are working with VINCI Building UK in Birmingham and were asked if they could support the upcoming event. Of course, they were delighted to oblige!

In the photograph Danny Thorne, Flat Roofing Operations Director, can be seen proudly delivering a bag of sensory toys to VINCI Building UK's Philip Hosier on behalf of the company.

Philip said "The school is incredible and helps some very poorly children. Some are SEND, with physical disabilities – others have complex illnesses and are bed bound with breathing support. Thank you very much for the toys, the kids will love them."

An amazing initiative and we are sure the children will have a great day!

**Building A Stronger, Healthier Construction Industry**

A couple of weeks ago had the honour of welcoming Lighthouse Charity's team to one of its larger and long term construction projects to talk about all things mental health.

Andy Bishop and Sam Warner from the team reached out to our frontline trades to raise awareness of the free, confidential support services available to construction workers and their families with an informal, engaging, and relatable talk.

Personal lived experiences were shared which at times were hard hitting but really drove the message that everyone has mental health no matter who you are! Judgement and stigma are still tangible fears, often with the thought that no-one can help, but the talk really empowered the statement that asking for help is a catalyst to a way forward no matter the circumstance or person.

After the talk a number of participants stayed and spoke direct to Andy and Sam and also to ALD’s Managing Director, Wayne Wheat, who had come to support the event. It was shared that the talk was not what they had expected and that they thought it was going to be a tick box exercise for the company with a boring presentation.

Comments of “Wow, that really hit home”, “I’ve taken a Lighthouse card and put in my wallet”, “I'm sharing the number with my brother tonight” summarised the collective buzz after the talk had finished.

Wayne commented “This was never going to be a tick box exercise. We have supported the Lighthouse for a number of years now and were really keen to provide something tangible direct to our workers out on site. Being able to arrange for the MiV team to come to site giving others the chance to listen to very relatable experiences was so powerful. I believe that there is an Archie in most blokes at some point in their lives and if we have helped one of those today then it was 100% worthwhile.”

**Announcement**

We would like to welcome Shane Connelly to our as he recently joined in the position of 'Contracts Manager’.

With nearly 40 years in the construction industry Shane has spent all of this time working in, on and around roofs! Beginning his career as a tiler in a family business he transferred into single ply roofing 28 years ago and here he stayed. Over the years he attained significant experience in the contract management side of roofing contributing to the overall success of large scale roofing and cladding projects.

Shane's proven track record in managing complex contracts for tier 1 construction contractors makes him an obvious and welcomed addition to our growing Flat Roofing team.

Shane said "My experience is a direct fit for and I have been made very welcome by all of the team. I am looking forward to many years ahead and being an integral part of the company's continuing growth."

On a personal note Shane enjoys travelling. This is a mix of visiting places across England in his caravan, locations in Europe on cruises or his regular trips over to Dubai to see his daughter..... There is still time though for walking the dog, working on an allotment with his Dad and of course watching Nottingham Forest 🏐

**Announcement**

We would like to welcome Dyan Wijesooria to our as he recently joined in the position of 'Operations Manager’.

Dyan has spent just over a decade working within the screeding industry. He started out as an Estimator and then moved into operations where he found his niche. Over this time he worked on a wide range of commercial and residential projects where he gained much experience and knowledge.

Knowing that he is good at what he does, Dyan shared that he thrives on the everyday challenges that naturally comes with the territory. He is keen to be part of the family and support our long standing (50 years +) yet still growing and going strong business.

are delighted to have him on board and have no doubt that he will expertly lead site operations in our next chapter.

As we know working and being a family man doesn't leave much time for hobbies. However Dyan enjoys photography, music production and bedroom DJ-ing when he gets the chance!

**Departures - East Midlands Airport**

A bit of a festive relevant post from who have spent the last few weeks operating through the night at East Midlands Airport.

Working for and in collaboration with BAM UK & Ireland essential upgrades were carried out in departures in readiness for the Christmas rush. These upgrades are part of a £120m investment programme spanning 5 years which commenced late last year that will improve all aspects of the passenger experience.

were part of a team of sub-contractors, that due to the nature of the airport’s operation, had to be totally flexible regarding working hours as much of the work was done at night.

The screed used on the project was required to be both fast setting and fast drying, and in this instance they used the Ultimate K-Screed Additive. The additive also has the benefits of easy installation and high compressive strength making it the first choice for this heavily-trafficked area.

Our highly experienced team completed a fast job in a very logistically challenging environment. We are sure that the estimated 80,000 passengers departing East Midlands Airport over the festive break appreciate it!

🎄Christmas Jumper Day - 2025🎄

It was a very jolly day last Thursday as office staff dusted off their Christmas jumpers to support Save the Children UK's annual fundraising event.

Raising £115 for this very worthwhile cause some office colleagues over indulged in the many goodies that were brought in - all Christmas themed of course - whilst site colleagues also supported our 'Guess the number of sweets' competition!

Tom Skerrett, Project Manager in Leicester, had the closest guess in the competition winning the jar and all the sweets, all 212 of them! The rest of our site team working with Tom were delighted he won too 🤣

Craig Unwin, Operations Manager, promised to deliver the jar the following day with every sweet in there still! We weren't sure if we believed him so photo evidence was taken🤓

🎁🎄😄 So a little bit of Christmas spirit and all in good cause too 🎁🎄😄
