🌿 A Garden Transformed – Making the Most of a Sloping Site! 🌿

It’s always lovely to welcome back repeat customers! 💚

This project in Surrey is all about transforming an existing sloping garden into a beautiful, practical space that could be enjoyed to its full potential.

Our design creates distinct levels, with natural stone retaining walls, raised timber planters, elegant steps, and areas for entertaining and relaxing. Large plant borders with attractive planting bring the whole space together, creating a garden that’s both functional and inviting.

By working with the natural slope rather than against it, we’ve created a garden with structure, character, and plenty of opportunities to relax and entertain.

Another exciting design for our returning clients, showing how thoughtful design can completely transform the way you use your outdoor space! 🏡🌱

A little quiet on socials. A lot happening behind the scenes.

I've been busy designing thoughtful, timeless gardens to be lived in and enjoyed.

Here's a glimpse of a first draft.

As another cricket season comes to a close, it was brilliant to see my son, Beech, score his first ever 50 🏏 (retired not out) last weekend. Hopefully, there will be many more to come both for his club and county Wiltshire County Cricket Club .

As his parent and his sponsor, it has been a pleasure to watch him grow and improve week on week 👏 🏏 😃 ....not long now until winter nets 😂

Here's a few pictures of a garden that I designed a few years ago, I popped in this week for a catch-up. My client has been doing a fab job in gardening and putting their own stamp on the space. Three years on, and this garden has truly found its rhythm 😍

What began as a blank canvas is now a layered, immersive garden designed to feel deeply connected to its surroundings — borrowing views from the rolling meadow beyond while creating intimate spaces closer to the house.

The timber structural framework help sub-divide the space and the geometry is softened by the multi-stem birches. The deep burgundy foliage anchors the horizon, and perennial planting creates movement, texture, and seasonal colour throughout.

The pergola terrace has settled naturally into the garden, becoming an outdoor room framed by planting rather than hard landscaping. Winding brick paths slow the journey through the space, leading to quieter moments — a reflective wildlife pond, a hidden seating deck, and ever-changing borders alive with pollinators.

One of the most rewarding parts of garden design is seeing how time completes the vision. Three years later, the balance between structure and softness is emerging exactly as intended: naturalistic, relaxed, and deeply rooted in the landscape around it. The client loves it, and so do we 😊

A sensory overload for me with a visit to earlier this week. It really was a "world of plants in a day." 😍

Spring is here, and soon, so will this new garden for our clients in Buckinghamshire 😀

It's great to be teaming up with once again for another design and build project. The team are getting ready for the build works to get going very soon.

This new contemporary home with a good-sized rear garden that is currently just left to lawn by the developers is a great opportunity for us to create something special for our clients.

The garden will benefit from a lovely paved entertaining area complete with automated louvered pergola, raised plant borders, water feature, structured lawns, bespoke pergola walkway with a secluded private seating area all of which will be highlighted at nightime with lighting added throughout.. 😁 All designed to suit the requirements of our clients.

Looking forward to seeing the transformation begin very soon.

It was great to end the week visiting one of my long-term projects near Wi******er. A project that I've been designing in phases for my clients over the last few years to conicide with the architectural and build works.

As you can see, it's a large garden that has got bigger as additional land has been purchased since I first started designing. Soon, I'll be getting stuck into the design for the immediate surrounds of the house, the new paddock, and the front garden...lots to think about and lots of opportunity for a client that is busy getting stuck in to a large portion of the work themselves. Updates to follow soon.

Enjoy a quick spin of a riverside project that I've been designing recently. It's in a lovely spot but a tricky shaped plot to form a garden from.

The new self-build home sits close to the river with larger gardens to the side and front. The rear garden has been designed as the main entertaining area with a hint of a coastal feel. The garden wraps around to the side with a flowing curved path flanked by plant borders before leading into a nature friendly front garden. A small pond and adjacent deck are surrounded by trees for dappled shade, all of which add to the overall relaxed and calm setting.

Very proud that I’ve been involved in the design of this local project helping to provide the council with the vision and masterplanning of The Recreation Ground. This is a fantastic new facility for the young people for Calne and one that the town can be proud of.

This is phase 1 of a larger project which I’m looking forward to continuing helping the council with over the coming months and years.

🎉 It’s ready! The brand‑new Ninja Warrior–themed play area at The Recreation Ground is now complete!

The Town Mayor - Cllr Ian Thorn along with Town Councillors, Grounds staff and contractors witnessed a ribbon cutting at 10am on 23 January.

Packed with obstacle‑course challenges, climbing features and activity zones for different ages, this free play area is designed to get children and young people moving, exploring and having fun.

We can’t wait to see families enjoying this fantastic new addition to Calne!

The official opening is being planned for Easter Sunday - please like and follow to stay in touch.

The work was funded by developer Community Infrastructure Levy funding. Equipment from Proludic ProludicLtd and fitted by SJ Aplin Playgrounds Ltd
