GMI Electrical has recently completed a full communal rewire at a 38-flat over-55s complex in Blackwood, South Wales. The project was part of a wider refurbishment and was carried out while the building remained fully occupied - with minimal disruption to residents.

As part of the rewire, we installed a smart corridor lighting system that dims to 10% when no movement is detected and brightens to full power when someone enters. This improves visibility, adds an extra level of safety, and helps reduce energy costs.

We’ve just wrapped up an LED lighting upgrade at a busy leisure centre in South Wales! We replaced outdated fluorescent fittings with modern, energy-efficient LEDs from Thorn Lighting.

Back in May, we teamed up with the amazing volunteers at Friends of Aberdare Park to bring a brand-new solar PV system with battery storage to the popular Aberdare Splash Park!

This sustainable upgrade was finished just in time for the summer, helping power the Splash Park while cutting down on energy costs. The Splash Park has been a favourite spot for families over the years, but its energy demands soar during those busy summer days.

Now, with our solar setup capturing power on sunny days, the park can run more sustainably, even with nearby trees casting shade throughout the day.

A big shoutout to the Friends of Aberdare Park volunteers who worked hard to make this happen! It’s been great to partner with them on a project that helps create a more sustainable future for the community. 🌳☀️
