August saw us busy with projects all over the Midlands but we particularly enjoyed this large 213m2 ground floor installation in the beautiful Leicestershire countryside.

It’s an example of taking time to get everything spot on as the project has evolved hugely from our initial discussions with the homeowner early last year.

Since then we have worked closely with the client and their building contractor to ensure the underfloor heating design remained perfectly tailored to the building requirements and the air source heat pump set up.

In our latest blog, we explain more about the process and install including decisions about digging out the subfloor and opting for a full pipe in screed system.

If you’ve started collecting quotes for an underfloor heating system, you may have found your self wondering why one company has quoted several thousand pounds more than another! 🤔

Don’t panic. We’re here to help!

In our latest blog article we ask “Why Underfloor Heating Quotes Can Vary So Much?” and break down exactly how to compare them properly.

A well designed underfloor heating system can be up to 25% more efficient than a radiator system when used with a gas boiler. ♨️

This can be increased to as much as 40-50% if paired with a renewable heat source such as a ground or air source heat pump. 🌱🌎

In addition to energy savings, underfloor heating also provides an increased level of comfort and luxury and is therefore a desirable addition to any home. 🏡

Homes with underfloor heating are more saleable and research has shown that potential house buyers would favour a home with underfloor heating versus one without. ❤️

One of the biggest causes of delays, extra costs and frustration in renovation projects isn’t the underfloor heating itself, it’s having too many different contractors responsible for different parts of the floor build-up.

When your underfloor heating installer, screeding contractor and floor preparation specialists all work independently, it’s easy for communication gaps, conflicting advice and costly mistakes to creep in.

In our latest blog, we explain the benefits of bringing these elements together under one contractor.

Our full service approach:

👉 Reduces delays and miscommunication

👉 Allows quick and effective troubleshooting when necessary

👉 Improves quality and accountability

👉 Helps your underfloor heating perform at its best

👉 Gives you one point of contact from start to finish

If you’re planning a renovation, extension or self-build, it’s well worth a read before work begins.

Looking for underfloor heating that works beautifully in both extensions, renovation projects and new builds?

The RetroTherm FLO system is a versatile, multi-directional panel solution designed to suit virtually any floor layout — without compromising on floor height or performance.

We offer two options depending on your available build-up:

RetroTherm FLO12 System:
• Uses 12mm pipe
• Can be installed with a total covering depth from just 25mm
• Ideal for renovation projects over existing solid floors

RetroTherm FLO16 System:
• Incorporates 16mm pipe within a slim 20mm panel
• Suitable for screed coverings up to 40mm
• A great choice for new build or larger open-plan spaces

Why choose RetroTherm FLO?

✔️ Slim profile – perfect where floor height is limited
✔️ Flexible design – panels allow pipe to be routed in any direction
✔️ Secure installation – rigid panel design holds pipe firmly in place
✔️ Faster installation compared to many traditional low-profile systems

If you’re planning a renovation, extension or new build and want a discreet, energy-efficient heating solution — Cozia can help you design the right system for your home.

Even better, we handle insulation, UFH and screed as one complete install.

It’s one of the most common questions we get asked at Cozia — “can we have UFH on the upper floors?”

The short answer is Yes. But it’s not the same as downstairs, and getting it wrong is an expensive mistake.

Here’s what actually matters:

→ Your floor finish (carpet reduces efficiency — keep it under 2 tog total)
→ Your floor structure (not every upper floor can take screed)
→ Your heat source (heat pumps + UFH upstairs = a brilliant combo)

The good news is you don’t have to install it everywhere.

Plenty of our customers go UFH downstairs and keep radiators in some or all areas upstairs and that can be a perfectly smart decision.

We offer a range of options for upper floors so whether you’re looking for UFH throughout or in selected areas upstairs, we’ll give you honest advice on what’s right for your home.
