Always ensure you are using a qualified electrician when getting any electrical work done!

Got a call from a customer saying that whenever they tried putting a new fuse in the Spur for the outside lighting it would go bang and the Circuit breaker in the consumer unit would activate too.

Upon visiting the property I found that the issue was a combination of faulty internals within one of the light fittings & the Photocell sensor that keeps the light one once it’s night time had gone faulty.

What I also found was the incorrect wiring for the light fitting and the sensor and completely wrong colours were used at both points of termination.
Earths where there’s supposed to be Neutrals.
Neutrals within the live connection.
Plus all was wired in Flex around the whole Garage.

Let the customer know and decided to install new T&E cable to each light fitting and photocell, then terminate them all correctly at the spur and correctly coloured to identify each conductor.

Job was done in a couple of hours and customer was more than happy to have their lights working again!

Customer had requested us to install 3x Outside lights on there Garage & also replace the batten holder in the Garage with a Batten tube fitting.

All cables were also contained in white conduit in the Garage to keep with the existing wiring system.
