We are giving this 150 year old roof at Derw mill a new lease of life this week. It’s been a pleasure carefully removing the old existing Welsh slate installing new breathable membrane , new batten , felt support trays , four velux windows and constructing a dorma for easy access to the flat roof area.

Now we are relaying the usable slate and topping them up with reclaimed natural Welsh slate from our own reclamation yard before we start another two slate roofs on the same property.

We project manage your whole project 😲

A couple of recently completed outbuildings by ourselves in Camarthen. Extensive carpentry repairs to both buildings. We also installed “non drip” box profile metal sheeting in anthracite to the double garage and black corrugated sheeting to the small workshop. Our in house electrician also supplied an updated fuse box , wiring and light fixtures.

We will be back to render the garage when the weather permits.

Wishing you guys a very wet and windy good morning. Please be aware with the current weather conditions predicted we will almost certainly fall behind a week or two. There’s absolutely nothing anyone can do about it (unless your god) so please try to remain patient and understanding while we try to get these jobs finished as quickly and as safely as possible. We will just have to ride it out.

Kind regards
Scott

Our team have just finished safely removing and disposing of 2.5 tonnes of asbestos containing slate from this beautiful and characterfull cottage overlooking Carmarthen bay in ferryside. All asbestos disposed of at CWM Environmental Ltd and a hazardous waste consignment note supplied ⚠️

Unfortunately due to the previous roofers installing the non breathable felt over the insulation without a 50mm gap for ventilation the timbers across the whole of the property have rotten from condensation.

Luckily our team of expert carpenters were on hand to formulate a plan of action to present to the lovely customers the same day. The extra work was quoted for and accepted straight away .

We’re now installing a new Cambrio velux balcony window to the front of the property to take advantage of the stunning views.

Did you know if you’ve got fibre cement slates on your roof that were installed before the year 2000 they more than likely contain asbestos and have to be removed and disposed of appropriately. Many other roofing company’s don’t bother to protect their customers or their employees by removing it in a safe and controlled manner.

Unbeknownst to the inexperienced roofers they are contaminating the whole site and quite possibly the surrounding property’s as well.

Asbestosis and many other asbestos related diseases continue to kill thousands every year.

The added cost from us for a typical three bed family home roof replacement containing asbestos is around £2,000. This insures the asbestos is removed safely , wrapped in protective plastic and transported to CWM Environmental Ltd where it’s disposed of correctly.

If a roofer doesn’t advise you about the asbestos or offers a hazardous waste consignment note it’s more than likely you’re asbestos will be either dumped at the side of the road or left on some poor farmers field where it then becomes an environmental catastrophe.
