☀️ Let’s bring back a bit of sunshine ☀️

Last week, Steve Jones and Mike Dale visited Kids Village Charity alongside Byron Mothershaw and Simon Yale from our operations team, met with Chairman Doug Wright for a progress meeting on phase two of the project.
We’re currently delivering a new access road in Wychnor, designed to help families arrive safely. The new route will also support future deliveries.
We’re really proud to be part of such a meaningful project. The team has carefully adapted the construction approach to protect the historic landscape beneath the site, ensuring the work respects its surroundings.
If you’re not already following their journey, it’s well worth a look take a moment to read their latest article, including what Steve and Mike had to say. 👑

Today we were pleased to support Burntwood Foodbank, a local charity that relies solely on donations from our community and local businesses.

After seeing a recent post highlighting an increase in demand, we wanted to do our bit to help. As a local company and members of the community, we’re grateful to be able to support such a brilliant group of people who do so much for others. 👑

If you’re able to donate, Burntwood Food Bank is open Tuesdays & Thursdays 12pm–2pm and Thursdays 5pm–7pm at 7D Bridge Cross Road, WS7 2BU

👑 Social Value in Action 👑

Social value is about making practical improvements that genuinely benefit the communities we work in.
As part of the A42–M1 Lighting Renewal Scheme, our PLO and delivery team have supported Long Whatton Cricket Club, the main community hub used all year round for sport, events and social activities.

What started with donating pallets for the club’s bonfire led to wider conversations about how we could help further. Flooding had been identified as a key issue, particularly during the winter months, so the team completed targeted drainage works to protect the club’s cellar and main building.

Building on this, our delivery team identified an opportunity to improve both accessibility and usability of the space. By adding 40 tonnes of stone, the car park and entrance are now wheelchair accessible, drain more effectively and are safer to use during wet weather, with the added benefit of improving the overall appearance of the area.

Any local parkrunners fancy joining in to support Kids Village Charity this Saturday?

A fantastic opportunity to support this wonderful charity.

We are excited to announce a takeover this week by a local team of volunteers for the ‘Kids Village’.

The volunteers are marshalling and providing a MASSIVE team of PACERS (odds and evens!) for Beacon parkrun this Saturday 7th March. 🏃‍♀️🏃🏽‍♂️

As well as volunteering, they are also fundraising for the kids village, just up the road. Please donate if you can spare a few pennies.

👏Huge shoutout to Steve Jones , Mike Dale, Pete Benton & Dec Riley, who braved the cold last night to support the Royal British Veteran Enterprise (RBVE) Great Tommy Sleep Out at National Highways Bescot depot.

The RBVE do incredible work supporting veterans facing homelessness, helping them rebuild their lives with access to employment, stable housing and a path back into society.
No one who has served our country should ever be without a home.
If you’re able to donate, every contribution makes a real difference. 🙏

Our apprenticeships grow people, not just careers.

Public speaking isn’t for everyone, but being given the opportunity, and taking it, can be a huge confidence boost and develop future leadership skills.

Today was a day of growth as four of our early careers employees faced their fears in front of 200 teenagers!

Our team, Ben Stubbs , Declan Riley, gemma eustace and Tom Ledbrook, joined our Business Manager Steph Smith in presenting to Year 8 students at Chase Terrace Academy about apprenticeships and their journey so far.

For Tom and Dec it was a trip down memory lane to their old secondary school, but for Gemma and Ben it was a leap into the unknown and a real opportunity to conquer those public speaking fears.

All four of our talented youngsters did themselves and Crown Highways proud. 👑

We hope that their stories may inspire just a few of those 13-year-olds to consider apprenticeships in construction in the future.
