Hello, I’m Iwona, the owner of BAYO Design Studio. Since 2009, I’ve been creating residential and commercial interiors for my clients. My projects don’t adhere to a single style because each client has unique tastes, dreams, and expectations. Every client is distinct, just like each building and space. However, all my designs are infused with my personal aesthetic. I offer both online and on-site

interior design services for residential and commercial clients in the Lancashire, Greater Manchester, and West Yorkshire regions.

FLAT IN SLOUGH • SMALL LIVING ROOM DESIGN

✨After a short summer break, I’m back to working on your projects — and today I’m excited to share one of them: a modern living room designed in warm, inviting tones.
This interior combines soft browns, beiges, natural wood and elegant black accents, creating a cosy yet contemporary atmosphere.

As always, the design was created in close collaboration with my wonderful clients, shaped around their preferences, aesthetics and personal style. I’m delighted to bring their vision to life.

By working closely with our clients, we create the custom-designed spaces that meet their needs and expectations. Interested in our services, need some help? Feel free to contact us on 07401 653194

A HOUSE IN RUNCORN • SMALL BATHROOM - Completed project

✨ I’ve just received new photos from my client in Runcorn.
This small bathroom — designed in shades of pink, white and gold — is now fully complete. Two changes were made during the installation: the radiator’s placement and the choice of a shower set instead of an electric unit. Everything else perfectly reflects the original design.
I’m happy to see the project successfully brought to life.

TOWN TO TOWNELEY — Local Creativity in Burnley

This past weekend in Burnley marked the opening of the “Town to Towneley” exhibition — a beautiful local project showcasing a wide variety of artworks created by people from our community.

I had the great pleasure of accompanying my daughter, who presented her pieces there. I’m incredibly proud of her — it’s a special feeling to watch young creators grow in their passions and find the courage to share their art with the world.

The exhibition runs from 18 July to 27 September across two locations:
Gallery OneTwoThree and Towneley Hall.
If you’re in the town centre or passing through Towneley Park, it’s well worth a visit.

Thank you to the organisers and everyone involved for creating such an inspiring space for local artists. Burnley truly knows how to nurture creativity.

Below are a few photos from the exhibition in both locations — and many of the artworks on display are available for purchase.

SMART SOLUTIONS FOR TRICKY INTERIORS / over‑stair bulkhead
Master Bedroom House in Bamber Bridge

In this bedroom we faced a challenge: part of the floor area was reduced by an over‑stair bulkhead, the structural enclosure above the staircase.
Instead of treating it as a limitation, I saw it as an opportunity to create a functional storage solution.

I extended the wardrobe line 32 cm out from the wall above the stairs, which allowed us to introduce practical drawers in this otherwise difficult zone. Further along, above the enclosed slope, I designed shelves and hanging space, turning it into a fully usable storage area.
The position of the window and door made it possible to extend the wardrobe without disturbing the proportions of the room.

The result is a built‑in wardrobe with mirrored sliding fronts, visually enlarging the space and adding elegance.

On the opposite side, near the entrance, we also had a boxed‑in pipe. In this area I designed a feature wall behind the bed, including a central niche of around 30 cm in height, finished with a mirror matching the wardrobe fronts.
The niche is softly illuminated with an LED strip, and the whole composition is completed with custom wall panels and shallow overhead cabinets.

A small bedroom, transformed with maximum functionality and a cohesive, considered design.

A SMALL HOUSE IN BRIGHOUSE • Study Case • Part 2 — First Floor

In my previous post, I showed you how the functional layout of the ground floor was redesigned. Today, I want to share how the first floor has changed in relation to its original arrangement.

Originally, the upper level consisted of two small bedrooms, a non‑functional corridor, and a bathroom squeezed awkwardly above the staircase, offering very limited comfort and usability.

To improve the layout, the chimney stack was removed along its full height. The internal partition walls were then repositioned to allow us to retain two bedrooms, while creating a larger and far more functional bathroom.

Because the new layout required an increased number of partition walls upstairs, our structural engineer recommended installing a supporting beam within the ground‑floor ceiling. This reinforcement ensures long‑term structural stability and prevents any potential issues that could arise from the redistributed load.

Additionally, the combi boiler, originally located in the main bedroom, was relocated to the basement, where a dedicated utility and laundry area has been planned. This change not only improved the bedroom layout but also created a more practical and efficient use of space within the property.

As a result of these changes, the first floor gained a much more practical and balanced arrangement, which you can clearly see on the updated floor plan and visualisations.

By working closely with our clients, we create the custom-designed spaces that meet their needs and expectations. Interested in our services, need some help? Feel free to contact us on 07401 653194

A SMALL HOUSE IN BRIGHOUSE • Study Case • Part 1 — Ground Floor

My lovely client purchased a small property in Brighouse which, in its original state, was completely non‑functional. There was no defined entrance area — you walked straight from the outside into the living room. Inside the living room, a tiny, enclosed kitchen had been squeezed into the corner, barely offering enough space to move. From that same spot, an open doorway led directly down to the basement.

The client’s goals were clear:
• create a separate entrance zone with a shoe cabinet and seating,
• design a fully functional kitchen with a small dining spot,
• and establish a comfortable living area with a sofa and TV.

To achieve the new functional layout, the entire plumbing, electrical and central‑heating installation had to be reconfigured and relocated. We also had to remove the chimney stack along its full height, as it was blocking the new layout and limiting the usable space.
All structural decisions and alterations were carefully consulted with our structural engineer to ensure full safety, compliance and feasibility.

The second part of the project was the interior style: a touch of retro, a touch of farmhouse, a darker palette, and a mix of wood tones, green accents and stone floor tiles.

And here is what we managed to achieve.
Working closely together, we delivered everything from the original brief — a practical layout, a clear flow, and a cohesive colour story.
The space is now not only functional, but also warm, characterful and beautifully balanced.

Every project is a close collaboration between the client and the designer — and this transformation is a perfect example of how much can be achieved when both sides work together with trust and clarity.

The project is now fully completed on the design side and is awaiting the construction phase.

By working closely with our clients, we create the custom-designed spaces that meet their needs and expectations. Interested in our services, need some help? Feel free to contact us on 07401 653194

I’ve noticed that my community here has grown over time, and I haven’t actually introduced myself yet — so I thought it’s the perfect moment to do so.

✨ About Me / Meet the Designer✨

I graduated in Poland with a degree in Architecture and Town Planning, earning the title of engineer architect. Although my education covered the full architectural spectrum, my professional path naturally led me toward interior design — a field where creativity, spatial logic and human experience meet.

From 2009, I ran my own design studio in Poland, creating bespoke interiors for both residential and commercial clients. After relocating to the UK in 2017, I continued my work as an interior designer, including nearly a year within a UK architectural practice, which strengthened my understanding of local standards, workflows and industry expectations. Since then, I have been collaborating with homeowners, contractors, joiners and design‑focused businesses across the country.

As an architectural and interior designer, I seamlessly blend technical expertise with artistic flair. My background in design and project management across both Poland and Great Britain gives me a unique perspective on creating harmonious, functional and emotionally resonant spaces.

My design approach focuses on crafting interiors that feel intuitive, balanced and tailored to the people who use them. Working across two countries has shaped my ability to adapt styles, materials and solutions to different lifestyles and architectural contexts, ensuring every project is both beautiful and deeply practical.

Alongside private clients, I also support joiners, contactors, interior designers, , architects and developers with functional layouts, 3D visualisations, concept development and technical drawings — offering flexible freelance collaboration during busy periods or full project cycles.
