One of our teams was recently tasked by Essex County Council with carrying out work on one of the oldest standing dead oak trees in Essex.

Known as ‘Harold’, this huge old oak needed a substantial weight reduction to minimise wind loading and help reduce the risk of limbs failing, especially with the tree being situated alongside a busy main road.

Before any work started, the team carried out thorough pre-checks for bats, including endoscope inspections of suitable cavities and features.
