Varied jobs recently, from gaining entry non-destructively, to replacing blown double glazed units, to opening seized UPVC doors and replacing defective mechanism, to repairing old locks and changing locks, to replacing UPVC panels in a door where theree was previously a cat-flap - just some of the services I offer.

Do you have trouble with locking or unlocking UPVC doors? Does the handle feel stiff or 'grindy', do you have to fight the hanfle to be able to lock your door? All of these symptoms point to issues that can be resolved if sorted in good time but if left they can cause further problems.

Do you have double glazing that has 'blown' or gone misty on the inside? These can be replaced to give you clear vision and better thermal efficency.

Another week of doing lovely jobs for equally lovely customers.

A customer in Exmouth had recently moved house but wasn't happy with their front door. I advised them that it could be updated, very simply, with a new panel, which I was happy to fit for them.

They also decided to change their lock and refresh other doors and windows by adding chrome handles. You'll see from the pictures that the difference looks great.

I've also been fixing seized windows and door locking systems.

Additionally, I'm now also able to cut dimple style keys in my van, as well as vertical type keys. So if you have a horizontal dimple type keyway on your lock and would like extra keys, I come to you and cut them there and then

Failed locking mechanisms, adjusting doors to work properly, opening and repairing seized windows, replacing blown double glazing, and lots of lock changes.

It's been great to be able to help out so many fantastic customers in the last week. It's a pain when you have a door or window that doesn't work properly and using specialised techniques and tools I'm able to rectify problems in a cost effective manner.

Another varied week of replacing broken window hinges, changing locks, fitting catflaps and fixing problem doors.

A customer in Exmouth had a problem with some windows, to the extent that one of them was almost falling out! I was able to replace the hinges giving them opening windows again - a relief in this heat!

I've also changed some locks for a customer who had just moved house, they opted for higher security British Standard versions, for added peace of mind.

I also had a customer who wanted me to fit a catflap for them (one they had used previously). To keep the cost down I suggested that they may wish to change the glass for a UPVC panel. This also meant that they can keep the glass to replace it if they move etc.

I've also been aligning and adjusting patio and French doors, a common thing when the weather warms up. One customer even commented that their door had never worked so well!

Are your fire doors up to the correct spec, and secure?

A customer in Seaton contacted me because a recent fire inspection in their apartment block had noted that their door didn't have a closer fitted. I advised them on the correct type of closer and they also wanted a new mortice deadlock, and spy-hole fitted. I was able to advise them correctly and everything I fitted is compliant with current fire regulations, and is fitted with proper intumescent shielding.

As a qualified Fire Door Inspector I am able to offer the correct advice.

I've also been changing door handles for customers, for practical and cosmetic reasons.

Alongside this I've been replacing broken double glazed units and changing locks for customers.

And don't forget I can also help with UPVC door and window problems, such as difficulty opening other closing, jammed locking mechanisms or making correct adjustments.
