♻️ Back to one of our previous heat pump installs!
We recently returned to this installation to make a few tweaks to suit the customer’s preferences — and it was great to see the job all finished now everything around it is complete! 👌
This was a large bungalow, heated by a Viessmann Vitocal 150-A Air Source Heat Pump, paired with a Viessmann unvented cylinder and Viessmann Divicon.
The system was designed to run fully open loop, allowing the heat pump to circulate directly around the heating system without unnecessary hydraulic separation, helping to keep flow temperatures low and efficiency high. 📈
⚙️ Why the Viessmann Divicon?
The Divicon provides a neat, integrated heating circuit solution, incorporating the pump and hydraulic components into one compact unit. It helps keep the installation tidy, serviceable and allows us to achieve the hydraulic design the system was intended to run on.
And the reason for our return visit?
The customer’s complaint was that the bungalow was actually getting TOO HOT! 😂🔥
Not a bad problem to have from an air source heat pump!
A few small adjustments later and the system is now better matched to the customer’s preferred indoor temperature.
What’s even more pleasing is that the performance figures are now coming in. While these are taken from the Viessmann controller and may be a little optimistic compared to independent metering, the system is currently averaging a SCOP of around 5.5. 👏
For those not familiar with SCOP, that means for every 1kW of electricity used, the heat pump is producing around 5.5kW of heat over the course of the year — exactly what good design, low flow temperatures, open-loop hydraulics and proper commissioning are aiming to achieve.
