Our most recent project!
Still some finishing touches required but the main bones of the design have been installed.
This garden was a well established but extremely built up, raised garden with lots of overgrown shrubs and very little space along the side & rear access which leads to the rear double doors from the front of the house.
The brief was to improve the shape, space and access but with an area to encourage some smaller wildlife such as bees, butterflies & aquatic animals.
The client also wanted a seating area at the back of the garden, a small pond, and a meadow flower area. They also needed easier access to the garden from front, along the side and steps up to the garden and some aesthetic curves to the borders. We therefore, stripped back all the original planting, removed all of the old brick, stone, and wooden walling and lifted existing paving.
We then installed new retaining walling using new sleepers which we specially treated to increase lifespan and prevent rotting. We also built two stepped entrances (here you can only see one) and the pergola with a circular, indian sandstone patio at the rear of the garden. We used wildflower turf to an area in front of the patio and a small pond. We then created some lovely curves to the beds using steel edging to maintain shape and make the curves cleaner and made the pathways wider and uncluttered using the same Indian sandstone paving slabs.
