🏗️ PROJECT UPDATE | MORRISON STREET, EDINBURGH 🏗️

As Team HRS continue to make excellent progress supporting the demolition sequence at our Morrison Street project in the heart of Edinburgh, we thought it was the perfect time to showcase this impressive scaffold structure in all its glory before it disappears behind the Monoflex!

Projects of this scale and complexity are about much more than simply erecting scaffolding.
Working within a busy city centre location, with virtually no site footprint, requires meticulous planning, innovative access solutions, carefully coordinated logistics and, most importantly, strong communication and collaboration between our teams, our client and everyone involved in delivering the works.
It's projects like these that really demonstrate the experience, technical capabilities and teamwork behind Hard Rock Scaffolding, both on-site and behind the scenes.

As the final sections of the splayed scaffold take shape, it's looking rather impressive! Almost like a crown sitting proudly above the Edinburgh skyline, catching the winter sunshine!

But we're far from finished!

As the demolition phase progresses, our attention will turn to the next major challenge — transforming the existing structure into a construction scaffold, incorporating a further 9 fully boarded lifts to support the next stages of the building's redevelopment.

This where our latest investment, the Alimak STS 300 Scaffold Transportation Hoist, will spring into action!
The hoist will assist our operatives with the transportation of scaffolding materials, significantly reducing manual handling, improving safety and increasing efficiency throughout the er****on and dismantling process.
And there's a little story behind this latest addition to the HRS fleet!
Pictured here at the ScaffEx 2026 demonstration area just a few weeks ago, Gareth, Deborah and George were so impressed with the machine and its capabilities that they made the decision to purchase it there and then!

TEAM HRS ON TOUR – LAYHER FACTORY, GERMANY! 🇩🇪

What an eventful 3 days! ✈️🍻 Cancelled flights, changing travel plans and even a missing passport made it a trip we certainly won’t forget!

We were incredibly proud to be invited to the Layher Factory in Germany, getting a behind-the-scenes look at where it all begins and seeing first-hand how the equipment we rely on every day is manufactured.

Working with Layher daily, it was fantastic to see the precision, attention to detail and rigorous quality checks that go into every stage of production. It reinforced exactly why we have such confidence in the Layher system and continue to invest heavily in it.

A huge thank you to Georg Layher and Tobias Baessler for their time, knowledge and hospitality. We had some fantastic conversations about projects, challenges, future opportunities and our continued investment in Layher systems and innovative access solutions.

We’re incredibly proud to be Scotland’s largest independent owner of Layher scaffolding equipment. For us, it’s not just about the volume of equipment we own — it’s the extensive range of specialist Layher products we can offer our clients, allowing our team to tackle even the most technically challenging projects.

A special thank you to our good friends Sean Pike and Eamonn Ryan for organising and hosting the trip, looking after us and making the 3 days such a memorable experience. We really appreciate the hospitality, the laughs and the opportunity to strengthen what is already a fantastic working relationship.

Trips like this highlight just how important the relationships behind the businesses really are.

Great company. Great conversations. A few travel dramas. Plenty of laughs.

PROUD TO BE FIRST IN SCOTLAND | ALIMAK STS 300 🏴

Another significant investment for Hard Rock Scaffolding as we’re proud to officially become the first scaffolding company in Scotland to own an Alimak STS 300 Scaffold Transportation System.

A huge thanks to Peter and the team at Alimak for their support throughout the process. We’re looking forward to putting the STS 300 to work across our projects.

For HRS, this investment is about much more than adding another piece of equipment to our fleet. It’s about continuing to improve safety, productivity and efficiency for our operatives and our clients.

The STS 300 allows scaffold materials to be transported vertically alongside the scaffold, helping to:
🔴 Significantly reduce manual handling and the physical demands placed on our scaffolders
⚫ Increase er****on and dismantling productivity by getting materials where they are needed more efficiently
🔴 Reduce reliance on cranes, forklifts and other site lifting operations
⚫ Improve site logistics, particularly on restricted or complex projects
🔴 Reduce manual-handling-related health & safety risks
⚫ Give HRS greater self-sufficiency and control over our programme and delivery

As our projects continue to become larger and more technically demanding, we believe investment in the right equipment is essential.

Being the first Scottish owner of the Alimak STS 300 is another example of HRS continuing to invest, innovate and look for better ways to deliver scaffolding safely and efficiently.

We can’t wait to see it in action!

NEW PROJECT | PARK MAINS HIGH SCHOOL

Another new project progressing well for Team HRS, this time at Park Mains High School, where we’re pleased to be working alongside Morrison Construction as part of the extensive extension works currently being delivered across the school.

The development includes significant works to both the main teaching blocks and sports annex, creating additional space and improved facilities for the school.

A key part of our involvement on this project is the ongoing scaffolding and access support HRS will provide throughout the programme.

We’re looking forward to seeing the development progress over the coming months and continuing to support Morrison Construction and other key subcontractors as the project moves forward.

This means our team will have a continued presence on site, adapting and developing access solutions to suit the changing requirements of multiple trades throughout the different stages of construction.

Our team have already been busy installing edge protection following the steel installation works, providing safe access and fall protection as the new structures continue to take shape.

We’re Exhibiting at Bridges Scotland 2026! 🌉
We’re delighted to officially announce that Hard Rock Scaffolding will be exhibiting at Bridges Scotland 2026, taking place at the SEC Glasgow on 24–25 November.
Bridges and infrastructure are a major part of what we do at HRS, so this is a fantastic event for us to showcase our experience in delivering complex and innovative access solutions across some of Scotland and the UK’s most challenging infrastructure projects.

From suspended and cantilever scaffolds to Layher FlexBeam systems, bespoke temporary works and complex bridge access, we’re looking forward to showcasing the capabilities, experience and investment behind Team HRS.

A great lunch and catch-up with our insurance broker, Billy Coles and David Gauntlett from Partners&.

Hard Rock Scaffolding has worked with Billy and his team for the past six years, looking after both our company insurance programme and our fleet insurance, and over that time he has become someone we know we can rely on.

The scaffolding and construction industry comes with its own unique risks and insurance requirements, so having a broker who genuinely understands your business is incredibly important.
Billy knows Hard Rock Scaffolding, our operations and our business need’s inside out. NEW PROJECT| DISTILLERY WORKS

On site at one of our distillery projects carrying out the final preparations, site walkarounds and coordination ahead of the planned shutdown and the commencement of our scaffolding works.

Preparation is key on projects like this, Making sure everything is planned, coordinated and ready to go before works commence is essential to delivering safely and efficiently.

Supporting our team on this project is our own 18m Bobcat telehandler, complete with HRS operator, giving us greater control over material movements and allowing us to service the site safely and efficiently throughout the works.
Thanks to Emma Carmichael, Williamson Haulage for the early morning Collection of the Machine and safe transportation to site.

Another project where planning, the right equipment and an experienced team all come together to deliver.

PROJECT DELIVERY | TEESPORT DOCKS, MIDDLESBROUGH

Team HRS were approached by one of our clients at short notice to assist with a challenging marine scaffolding project at Teesport Docks, Middlesbrough.

Working closely with , our team worked tirelessly to develop and deliver a safe and practical access solution within a demanding marine environment.

The works included the installation of a cantilevered Layher staircase, providing secure access to the work area, together with a debris-netted enclosure to facilitate hydro-demolition and pier replacement works to critical quayside pillars.

As the project progressed, the team encountered a number of additional challenges on site, including difficult and changeable weather conditions associated with the exposed marine environment. The works weren’t as straightforward as initially anticipated, but our team adapted to the conditions, worked through the challenges and continued to push the project forward safely.

Despite the short notice, challenging site conditions and weather, Team HRS delivered the required access solution as planned for our client.

Another example of our ability to respond quickly, adapt on site and deliver bespoke access solutions within complex marine environments.
