The warning signs were stacking up…

Four mature Ash trees on a private estate were affected by Ash dieback, internal decay and previous limb failure, with livestock fields and parking areas below.

After assessment, removal was the right call.

We felled and processed all four trees, chipped the brash and cleared the site, while following biosecurity measures to minimise the spread of Ash dieback, including careful handling of infected material and cleaning equipment and vehicles before leaving site.

Plans are now beginning to restock the estate with semi-mature trees. 🌳

Ever heard a tree make a noise like this? 👂🏼

The sound is coming from sections of bark rubbing together as the tree moves around a cavity

Trees naturally flex and move in the wind, and where there are cavities, splits it areas of damaged bark, that movement can sometimes create creaking or rubbing sounds like this.

A cavity doesn't automatically mean a tree is unsafe, but changes in a tree's structure, movement or condition are worth keeping an eye on.
