I got a call last night from a customer who needed help getting a gate open.

He’d already had a few locksmiths attend, but they were asking for around £750 to do the job 😳 — so he quite rightly turned them down and carried on looking.

He then got in touch with me. I came out, had a look at the lock, and within literally 10 minutes, I had the gate open! 🔓

As you can see from the photo, he was absolutely delighted with the result! 👍😁

Another brilliant day on the tools today! 🔧🚪

With the weather cooling down, we’re seeing more and more doors needing realigning. Today we carried out 3 mechanism changes, along with a few door realignments.

A little bit of advice if you’re finding your door difficult to shut, or it doesn’t feel smooth when opening and closing — don’t ignore it!

Another busy few days! 🔑

Last night I was called out to a late-night emergency where a door mechanism had broken. I was there at around 11pm and replaced the centre case, getting everything working again.

And remember — I don’t charge a call-out fee, no matter what time of day or night you need me. 🌙🔧

Today I’ve already had a couple of jobs, including door realignments and lock upgrades, plus a few bookings coming in for Monday.

Today’s job 🔧

Fitted a brand-new mechanism and two locks today.

The customer had been having problems with the door shutting properly for a long time, which eventually caused the mechanism to fail and meant the whole mechanism needed replacing.

A simple door realignment earlier on could potentially have saved them the cost of a new mechanism — just a little tip for anyone experiencing similar problems. 👌

🚪 Is your door becoming difficult to lock or close? Don’t ignore it! 🚪

Another busy day today replacing several damaged centre case mechanisms—repairs that could often have been avoided.

If your door is becoming hard to shut, difficult to lock, or you have to force the handle, don’t keep struggling with it. That’s usually a sign the door needs realigning. Getting it adjusted early is far cheaper than replacing a broken mechanism.

💡 A simple maintenance tip:
Keep your door mechanism lubricated. I recommend 3-in-One White Lithium Spray. Spray it on the moving parts where the hooks and latches come out of the door—but don’t spray it into the lock cylinder.

A little maintenance can add years to the life of your door and save you money on costly repairs.
