Impressive results from the Mammotion Luba 2 AWD 3000X! 🤖🌱
One of my clients had a robot mower from another well-known company (the orange branding...) for a few years, but it just couldn’t handle her lawn—which features steep slopes and lots of uneven areas.
After plenty of professional research, I recommended the Mammotion Luba 2 AWD 3000X as the ultimate upgrade for this kind of challenging environment. After just one week, the results speak for themselves: everywhere I programmed the mower to go has been perfectly cut, and it’s even left beautiful stripes on the lawn!
The Setup Experience:
Unboxing, building, and mapping took around an hour. While there is a brilliant automated mapping feature, this lawn layout is quite complex, so I opted for a precise manual setup. Even so, the RTK technology and built-in sensors are incredible—it effortlessly avoids trees and shrubs on its own.
Plus, because the Mammotion doesn't require a frustrating perimeter wire like the old mower did, it was significantly quicker to get up and running. It now handles this 1,600m² lawn in about 10 hours of mowing time, keeping the grass perfectly under control.
Pro-Tips & Troubleshooting:
The app is fantastic and packed with features (the live task-status map is a personal favorite). We did have a couple of minor environmental hurdles to overcome, which is typical for a complex garden:
• Wi-Fi Coverage: The garden's Wi-Fi was poor. While the Luba 2 comes with a SIM card for mobile data to track tasks and send alerts, you do need a solid connection for software updates. I installed an external repeater to solve this completely.
• Garden Obstacles: It caught on a low redcurrant branch and some string fencing early on. We easily resolved this by tweaking the map and clearing the obstacles. The best part? The app sent an instant alert both times, so we knew exactly when it needed a hand.
The Verdict:
In summary, this machine is vastly superior to traditional perimeter-wire mowers and is an absolute game-changer for large, awkward, or steep lawns.
