Making the most of a corner plot in Mangotsfield.

We've been working on some visuals for a proposed new-build home, and it's starting to come together nicely.

This one has been an interesting design challenge, balancing what the client would like to achieve with the constraints of the site and the needs of the existing homeowner.

The proposal uses a simple, contemporary design with warm timber cladding to add character, while making clever use of the available space on the corner plot.

There's still some development to go, and that's all part of the process. Working through different ideas, refining the details and finding a solution that works for everyone involved.

Crittall-style glazing is all the rage at the moment, and it’s easy to see why.

The slim, dark frames give this rear extension plenty of character without taking away from the amount of natural light coming into the space.

Paired with the outdoor kitchen and covered overhang, the design also helps blur the line between inside and out, creating a space that can work just as well for everyday family life as it does when everyone comes round.

It’s contemporary, but the simple material palette means the extension still sits comfortably alongside the original house rather than competing with it.

Definitely a trend we can see sticking around for a while.

Absolute banger in Winterbourne 🔥

We’ve just sent the first sketch designs over to the client for their thoughts, and we’re very excited about where this one could go.

The proposal introduces a new glass-gabled side extension, alongside a complete redesign of the existing gable to give the home much more character.

Natural stone and timber bring warmth and texture, while the large areas of glazing give the whole design a much more contemporary feel without looking out of place alongside the original property.

Still early days and plenty to develop, but we think this one could be something special.

Flexible space used to be seen as innovative.
Now, it's expected.

Rather than fixed layouts that only serve one purpose, clients are increasingly asking for spaces that can adapt as needs shift over time.

In homes, this might look like a dining room that also works as a home office, a snug that can become a guest room, or open-plan areas that can be subtly divided when privacy is needed. In commercial settings, it often means layouts that can accommodate growth, reconfiguration, or different ways of working without major structural changes.

Future-proofed infrastructure is also playing a key role. Providing the right power, lighting, storage, and access points from the outset makes it far easier to adapt a space later on.

The focus is no longer on whether a building can change, but on how easily and efficiently it can respond when it needs to.

Construction is now underway on this barn conversion in Thornbury, where a relatively modest extension will add valuable extra space to the home.

With a building like this, the key is making sure the new addition feels like it belongs. Matching stonework, pitched roofs and carefully positioned glazing have all been used to complement the existing barn and retain its character.

It may be modest in size, but it should make a real difference to how the home works day to day.

You don’t convert a barn to make it look like a new build.

For this interior, the exposed timber beams and vaulted ceiling were always going to be part of the story.

Warm flooring, a sliding timber door and simple contemporary finishes bring the space up to date, while allowing the original structure and character of the barn to remain the focus.

It’s that balance that makes barn conversions so interesting. Creating a home that works for modern life without designing away the very things that made the building worth converting in the first place.

One of our favourite kitchen CGIs we’ve produced to date…

And a pretty good example of just how far architectural visualisation has come.

Being able to create realistic visuals like this means our clients don’t have to rely on floor plans and imagination alone. They can get a real sense of the proportions, finishes, light and overall feel of their new space before any work begins on site.

It makes those early design decisions much easier when you can actually see what you’re working towards.
