Things are moving along well at Park Place, with plenty of activity across the site.

The scaffolding is now up, while partitioning works are underway across the first and second floors. Down in the basement, waterproofing has been completed, and work to the extension is progressing with new walls and insulation now being installed.

Great to see the different areas of the project taking shape as works continue.

Work is well underway at Gordano School where we are working across three separate areas of the school simultaneously, carefully phasing the programme to allow different parts of the project to progress alongside the school’s day-to-day activities.

The first milestone has now been reached, with The Curve completed and handed over a couple of weeks ago, ready for the students returning at the start of the new academic year. The works have created a new careers advice office and meeting room within the existing Sixth Form learning area.

Attention now turns to the next two key areas which are the new Sixth Form Common Room and Years 7–11 Canteen building plus reconfiguring the old Sixth Form building into the new SEND Building.

We’re looking for two new people to join our team in Bristol:

Assistant Quantity Surveyor
A great opportunity for an ambitious Assistant QS looking to develop their career with a regional main contractor. The role offers hands-on, end-to-end commercial experience across projects throughout Bristol, the South West and South Wales.

Finance Manager
We’re also looking for an experienced Finance Manager to take on a varied, stand-alone role working directly with our Company Directors. The role covers everything from management accounts and payroll through to cashflow planning, budgeting and job costing.

Both are full-time, permanent positions and offer the opportunity to become part of a friendly, established SME construction company.

Heritage has been part of the JPC story for more than 30 years, and it remains an important part of what we do today.

With the National Federation of Builders Heritage Conference coming up this month, we’ve been reflecting on some of the remarkable historic buildings we’ve had the privilege of working on - from SS Great Britain and Underfall Yard to Clifton Cathedral and Widcombe Baptist Church.

As proud holders of the NFB Heritage Mark, we’re looking forward to attending the conference, sharing experiences and learning from others working to protect our built heritage.

A look back at a fantastic heritage project – the refurbishment and extension of the Grade II-listed Widcombe Baptist Church in Bath.

Dating back to 1820, this was a project that called for careful planning and a sensitive approach. We refurbished much of the ground floor and created a new wraparound extension, with external stonework carefully matched to the original building.

Working with a historic building naturally brought its challenges. Complex temporary works were required throughout, including meticulously propping the church’s precious organ on the mezzanine level while works took place.

And all of this had to happen while the church remained very much in use. Services and community activities continued throughout, so close communication, careful segregation and minimising disruption were key.

The result was an expanded worship hall and improved social spaces, giving the church more room to continue serving its growing congregation and local community.

A great project to look back on – and another example of why we enjoy working with buildings that come with a bit of history!

As we move closer to completion at Coleg Gwent’s Blaenau Gwent Learning Zone, a major milestone has been reached – the PV installation is now complete.

A total of 484 solar panels have been installed across the site:

☀️ 445 panels across four roofs
☀️ 39 panels along a walkway, replacing older PV panels previously in place

The installation is a great addition to the Learning Zone and will help support the building’s energy needs for years to come.

The handover isn't the end. 🏗️

Reaching Practical Completion is always a big milestone, but our involvement in a project doesn't simply stop when we hand over the keys.

Our Aftercare Manager, Mitch Duggan, provides a dedicated point of contact following completion, working with our clients and project teams to make sure any issues are picked up and dealt with quickly.

For us, good aftercare is about taking the same approach after handover as we do during construction – being responsive, communicating clearly and getting things sorted!

We’re pleased to have reached practical completion at Voyage Learning Campus for North Somerset Council this week.

The project has included two new single-storey classroom extensions, alongside refurbishment and remodelling works throughout the existing school and improvements to the external areas.

It’s been a busy programme of works, all carried out while working around an operational school, and it’s great to now see the spaces ready for use when the students return after the summer break.

A big thank you to everyone involved in getting the project over the line.
