🔌 Upgrading Your Consumer Unit: What You Need to Know 🔌

Your home’s consumer unit (sometimes called a fuse box) is one of the most important parts of your electrical system — it distributes power and protects your family and devices if something goes wrong. Over time, older units can become outdated or struggle to keep up with modern electrical demands like EV chargers, smart appliances, or extra circuits.

In our latest blog, we explain:
• How consumer units have evolved from simple fuse boards to modern RCBO-protected units
• The safety, reliability and flexibility benefits of upgrading
• What’s involved in the upgrade process — from assessment and planning to installation and certification
• Why it’s essential to have a qualified electrician carry out the work to meet regulations and keep you compliant and safe.

💡 Whether you’re improving safety, adding new capacity, or future-proofing your home, this guide will help you understand what a consumer unit upgrade involves and why it might be something to consider.
