The 10 year milestone in trading and being self employed was reached around 2/3 weeks ago on 9th September 2016 just been to busy and tired to post it 😄
I always remember the exact date as it was the last time working with my dad finishing a job over on the outskirts of France renovating an old cottage, coming back on the ferry I was as sick as a dog and had only the weekend to get myself up together again before going out to do my first job on my own on the following Monday morning
To be honest once I left my dad I thought after a month or two I would be going back to being employed with him again to be looked after as starting up a business at any age is quite daunting as everything hangs in the total balance of YOU only being there everyday to make it work as no one is going to do it for you without a price tag, only just turning 20 at that time also it was quite a gamble
However it was all the complete opposite, although sacrifices were made and have been throughout the years still , the character build & other aspects of life have been worth it
After the first 2/3 years of solid advertising, meeting customers on Facebook, tradesmen platforms and recommendations it was starting to boom, on the 3rd year of S/E, footballing over the weekend and going gym through the week days was sacked off purely just to lock in on plastering, another 7 years on I haven’t looked back since, although the amount of times I have tried going back playing or picking up new hobbies and failed has been quite overwhelming purely just being knackered and no energy left for anything else after the 5/6 day working week was done 🙈
The sharp 6.30am at the door of Travis Perkins/ selcos or hanging out my backside at near shutting times at B & Q on whatever said day of the week just to get materials sorted for the next day or little things like replacing broken tools that I know I’ll need , stress, burnouts and arm/ shoulder aches on numerous occasions are all apart of the journey and long may it continue for ever how far long I can go for witch is a while yet I hope 😄👊
The main point of the post is just to thank everyone who’s made it happen wether if that’s just a customer/ other tradesmen who have used me just once or numerous occasions, is been a busy 2026 and hoping more for 2027 and the next 10 years
Not going to lie I feel old as anything saying I have a 10 year old business but we go as we mean to go on, thank you 👊🤖🏃☕️
