Moon Design is a Bristol based architectural practice, working in Bristol, Bath, Cheltenham and across the South West.

We specialise in bespoke new-build houses, residential refurbishments, extensions, custom interiors and furniture design.

Our clients brief was simple to state but harder to achieve: a restrained, open plan kitchen and dining space that opened out onto the garden, without swallowing it. Our client wanted more light, and they wanted something contemporary and beautiful.

The result: a modest addition with bigger impact, proof that holding back is often the harder, and better, design decision.

We made it onto site last week to see the great work being done by EmeryBuilders on our latest project in Bath. The quality of the stonework really stand out.

The property has been completely remodelled, with a large rear extension with interior design throughout. The rear features an open plan kitchen, dining and sitting room space panoramic view of garden. The new hallway will be opened up to a large double height entrance space with contemporary panelled walls and oak joinery.

Our latest completed project in Bristol was an exercise in restraint when it came to the materials and detailing.

From the early concept, the material palette of zinc, brick, oak and stone was always intended to be paired back. The interiors were then designed with the same philosophy, to complement the scheme ensure no single element was too dominant.

Careful restoration of a very special Grade II* Georgian home.

From early layout sketches, through to a complex planning journey and a full interior design scheme, we worked closely with our client to reimagine this home.

Working in collaboration with our build partner Moon Build, we’ve protected the details that matter most, and brought this beautiful home back to life.

In a true shaker style, coach house was a project driven by an honest material approach.

Where possible, we focussed on solid and natural materials over man made.

Each space celebrates a different species and tone of timber, adding natural character and warmth.

Using timber panelling throughout the home, but changing the species in each space gave us the opportunity to add variety and interest while maintaining a familiarity.

After many weeks of waiting.. we’ve now, finally received planning permission for this stunning new build home overlooking the Avon Gorge.

Now to focus on refining the details that will make this home extra special.

Looking forward to standing on that balcony to check out the views!

Stretching across an unusually wide plot, Charlton House in Cheltenham was designed to maximise light and connection to its stunning garden.

Stone grounds the architecture while timber elements connect the house with its pool house and garage, creating a calm, cohesive family retreat.
