🏡 A HOME TRANSFORMED — BUILT TO LAST
We’re proud to share another completed project by Set Square Group — a stunning single-storey rear extension and second-storey side extension, creating a true forever family home.
From the initial plans through to the final details, this project came with its challenges, but our team worked closely with the client, structural engineers and trades to find the right solutions and deliver the finish they envisioned.

“Having now worked with Set Square Group on a single storey rear and second storey side extension I cannot recommend them enough. They were recommended to me after they completed work 2 streets away.
The professionalism and detail you get from Ryan was apparent from our first interaction. On the day he first came to quote he contacted me in the morning to say he would be late. He arrived 7 minutes after our planned time. Most tradespeople would not have even viewed this as late, but this is testament to the quality and attention to detail you get from Ryan.
Ryan reviewed our plans and was not fazed by some of the design challenges faced in converting and adapting an existing extension up to modern spec, and the areas not fully drawn out by the architect. Ryan gave suggestions and ideas on how to overcome some of these challenges, speaking direct with structural engineer to design a plan, others simply could not see past the issues. The quote we received was incredibly detailed, breaking down each room and aspect of the work, specifying what equipment and supplies would be needed for each. Ryan took on the challenge of managing our neighbours and their concerns over access.
Set square were one of 3 very similar value quotes we had for the build; I am very pleased for the sake of a few £ we did not go for someone less impressive.
Throughout the build we were kept updated on progress and plans each week. Communication was great, with Ryan working around some of our work commitments to always make sure we could discuss questions and design choices face to face. It was great to see Ryan’s brain turning as we discussed and he walked the site, planning trades needed and supplies for maximum efficiency. Communication has been a dream. The project took about 3 weeks longer than originally estimated but this was mainly due to waste removal in the foundation stage / waiting for the steel fabrication. 4 months and 3 weeks total still felt very speedy.
What was not explained to me before we worked with Set Square is who the team are: you get Ryan but also get 2 generations of his family, it was great to hear the banter between them on site each day, with the younger generation taking on Ryan’s work ethic alongside their grandfather. The other trades working alongside the family team were all a close knit group of friends / old school friends Ryan has built throughout his many years’ experience, they too work to the standard Ryan sets on site.
The Team at Set Square have built us our forever family home and we should not need to do another build, but if we did, I cannot see how I would want something different from any other build team – I would definitely go with them again.”
