Keeping Student Accommodation Drainage Flowing 🚿

Regular planned preventative maintenance (PPM) is key to keeping student accommodation drainage systems running reliably — especially with the demands placed on them throughout the year.

As part of a 6-monthly PPM programme, the team at Trent’s Drains recently carried out a full drainage maintenance visit, including:
🔹 Cleaning out pump pits
🔹 High-pressure jetting of underground drainage systems
🔹 Flushing through the drainage network to remove build-up and debris
🔹 Checking pipework, chambers and access points
🔹 Inspecting the system to make sure everything is flowing as it should
🔹 Identifying any potential issues before they become costly blockages or failures

PPM can be tailored to suit the site and the system, whether that’s monthly, quarterly, 6-monthly or annual maintenance. Regular cleaning and inspections can help reduce reactive call-outs, minimise disruption for residents and keep drainage assets performing as they should.

🌳 11.5 metres of tree roots removed... and the project continues! 💪

We're currently on site in Avonmouth, carrying out ongoing drainage works for one of our long-standing clients, Hartnell Taylor Cook.

A huge thank you to the team at Hartnell Taylor Cook for their continued trust and support. We really appreciate the opportunity to be involved in so many of your projects.

One of the latest challenges on site was removing an incredible 11.5 metres of tree roots from the drainage system. Roots are one of the most common causes of drainage problems. They naturally seek out moisture and can enter pipes through even the smallest crack or defective joint. Once inside, they continue to grow, restricting the flow and eventually causing severe blockages and damage.

This is just one stage of the works, with the project still ongoing as we continue to restore the drainage system.

If you're experiencing recurring blockages or slow-running drains, tree roots could be the cause. Early intervention can save significant repair costs further down the line.

📱💧 Not your average drain callout! 💧📱

We get called out for all sorts of jobs, but this one was a little different...

A customer in Bath accidentally dropped their iPhone 17 down a road gully the night before. After realising it wasn't coming back without some specialist help, they gave Trent's Drains a call.

First, Connor tried using a magnet (worth a shot!), but when that didn't do the trick, out came the gully grabs. After a bit of patience and precision, the phone was successfully rescued from beneath a layer of silt and debris. 👏

Once it was safely back on the surface, Connor gave it a clean with sanitising wipes before handing it back to its relieved owner. We didn't have time to hang around and see if it sprang back to life—we were already off to the next emergency—but even if the phone had seen its last day, there's every chance the customer will still be able to recover their valuable photos, contacts and data.

Just another day at Trent's Drains... because it's not always blocked drains! 😄

🚛💪 Tanker Tag Team in Action!

Another major drainage project successfully completed by the team at Trent's Drains.

Working at Sainsbury's Emerald Park Depot, our engineers delivered a comprehensive drainage maintenance programme to restore the site's drainage infrastructure back to full operational condition.

The project involved:

✅ Two-tanker tag team operation to clean and empty a heavily contaminated 3-stage interceptor

✅ High-pressure jetting of the main drainage network

✅ Cleaning of surface water ACO drainage channels

✅ Mechanical descaling of the foul drainage system using our specialist Picote equipment

✅ Confined space entry carried out by our trained operatives in full compliance with health and safety legislation

✅ Full post-works CCTV drainage survey to verify the condition of the network and confirm all pipework was clean, clear and free-flowing.

☀️ MONDAY MORNING BOOST ☀️
What better way to start the week than by celebrating some wonderful news from the Trent's family!

Last Wednesday, Libby and Adam welcomed a beautiful baby girl into the world. 💕 Little Delilah arrived safe and healthy, weighing a perfect 7lbs 7oz, and we couldn't be happier for them all.

Now, when we say Libby is an absolute warrior, we're not exaggerating. While most people would still be recovering, by Thursday she was already firing emails around and keeping an eye on things! That's the dedication and determination we've all come to know and admire. 💪

From everyone at Trent's Drains, we'd like to send our biggest congratulations to Libby, Adam, and the whole family on their gorgeous new arrival. Delilah has already stolen our hearts, and we're sure you'll agree she's absolutely beautiful. 🥰

📢 Where have we been?

We've been a little quiet on social media recently, but that's only because the team at Trent's Drains has been busier than ever, delivering projects for clients across Nationwide.

One of our latest jobs has seen us back on another new housing development for our valued client, Bloor Homes, helping get the drainage infrastructure in shape and ready for future residents.

Our specialist teams have been carrying out extensive drainage works using our Tanker Recycler Unit, combining powerful vacuum extraction and high-pressure water jetting to clean and clear both foul and surface water systems. Alongside this, our CCTV survey teams have completed detailed inspections, manhole surveys, condition reporting and drainage mapping to ensure the network is performing exactly as designed.

The works involved removing significant amounts of construction debris and rubble from the drainage system, thoroughly cleaning pipework, carrying out post-clean CCTV surveys, and inspecting manholes to verify their condition before the next phase of the development. By tackling issues beneath the surface now, we're helping ensure the estate is ready for a smooth handover and welcoming its first residents.

From our Tanker Recycler Unit operating on jetting and vacuum duties to our CCTV engineers providing detailed reports and footage, this project showcases the full range of services we provide to the housebuilding sector.

A brilliant Saturday to wrap up the season for Trent’s Drains! ⚽️

We were proud to be at Ashton Gate Stadium for Bristol City FC final game of the campaign, and we certainly showed up in numbers. A big thank you to Mathew Rowles at Malago Insurance Brokers Ltd for hosting Jozef and Liam in hospitality, while Ross and Jordan had the pleasure of entertaining two valued clients in the VIP section as part of the match ball sponsorship deal. A special moment too, being presented with a signed match ball to mark the occasion by three City legends.

It wasn’t just the team in attendance flying the flag, the Trent’s Drains brand was impossible to miss. From the big screen on arrival, to pitch side advertising boards and displayed on screens throughout the stadium, it was fantastic to see our Bristol City Community Partnership front and center on such a big day.

To top it all off, the result went our way, closing out the campaign on a high. And as if that wasn’t enough, we were there to witness a piece of football history, Roy Hodgson’s final game at Bristol City as interim manager, 44 years after he first took charge of the club as his first role in English football. A true full-circle moment.

Shout out to Sharon Mizzi at Bristol Sport who was very professional and helpful when it came to organizing the Match ball sponsorship package. 👏
