Micro Structural Engineering Practice, working for the domestic market, new houses to modifications

We are a small and perfectly formed structural engineering firm where your project is important to us. We provide technical advice to private clients, architects and builders. We work in Bristol, Bath, Wiltshire, Somerset, London and care about the quality of the work we produce.

Countryside living in Wales, this one has taken a bit of time, self build by the owner.

Spot the problem..? Was sent a few photos, spotted the issue, so organised site visit to talk about a few waya forward and what do they want to do in the future so we can remove the issue and stabilise.

Attic Conversion in London, ceiling retained, with new steels to support the new timber floor. New party masonry wall after discovering significant lean present in the wall.

Issues discovered during a house inspection for structural condition.

So this is the example of a cantilever roof without a gutter..

New site, it's always worth reviewing a site. In this case the site looks level until you look over the walls, so a little bit of retaining to consider as well as multiple party wall awards going to be required.

The new house is going to be an ICF house, with a timber roof. The ground floor looks like a cast concrete in this instance to stabilise the walls for ground level changes and retaining walls required.

And the main issue has been developing the drainage strategy which in this case combined rainwater harvesting tank and attenuation combined to minimise water water rate off the site. 145% climate change allowance over 1:100 year return event.

Old house, where you become the conservator of the property rather than owner, so part of that process is to carry out repairs and maintenance.

Long discussion in this case around repair v replace of stonework, and which way works best..??

Replacing stone so no repair scars and avoiding new modern materials, the perfect solution when you have stonemasons on the project.

Engineered timber frame house - before any cladding or sheathing is installed on the walls and the roof. Nice to see a builder protecting the timber from the weather, in particular moisture that can damage and warp the timber.
