This absolutely boils my p**s!!
We were called out this afternoon to a large ex hotel that has recently been converted into 8 x 2 bedroom flats. Client reporting no power to 1 x flat
After our initial investigations it became apparent the main cables from the main isolater to their flat were loose causing a small fire in the isolator consumer unit.
On further investigation this was the same on a further 3 flats!!
With a potential to be on a further 18 flats in adjoining properties.
Aswell as finding other dangerous non conformities!
The company that completed the initial installation were fully registered with niceic 😱
On completion of our fault rectification and restoration of power to our client,
A immediate Danger notice was issued on the whole property (8 flats) with immediate investigation required.
Important words of advice from us,
If your having any upcoming electrical works done please check you have instructed a competent and legitimate electrical contractor by following these important steps:
1) Insure the contractor is registered with either Niceic or Elecsa. (This can be checked directly on either website)
2) Request detailed images from previous works completed
3) Ask for and check references of the contractor’s previous clients
As professional electrical contractors what we have witnessed this afternoon/tonight has shocked us on how incompetent some people/company’s can be carrying out their works, and how they even mange to sleep at night.
