Kathryn matthews contemporary landscape painter in oils Kathryn has been painting professionally since leaving artschool in 1993.

Her studio is in the lovely Shoreham by Sea but she exhibits all her latest work in Two Kats and a Cow Gallery which she set up in 2001 with fellow Brighton artists Katty McMurray and John Marshall.

I am always being asked how long it takes to paint a painting and the answer is usually not hours or days but a lifetime of looking, pondering, experimenting and being inspired.
From quaint watercolours as a child, to terrifying abstract painting classes in Holland, to where I am now... it's been quite a journey. 🎨

Looking back, I realise certain things have never changed: my curiosity, my love of colour, and that irresistible pull to keep creating.

Every painting has taught me something. Every stage has shaped the artist I am today. And I'm still learning, still experimenting, still finding joy in the process.

Here's to embracing the evolution. ✨

My painting 'Hove Regency In Gold' raised £1100 in the charity auction. Thanks to the Brighton and Hove Albion player who was the highest bidder and will be taking this home. 100% of the money goes directly to funding research into rare conditions.
